| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Nov 18, 2007 Courtesy kp. Pours a cloudy orange red with a small off white head. Smells of some hops, dark fruit, and maybe some molasses and raisins in there too. Malts are there as well. The flavor is much of the same. Has a lot of typical barley wine characters, but not as bready and yeasty as many others which I liked. The fruits and hops seemed to join forces to make up most of the flavor characters. Pretty nice. illinismitty (1857), Nashville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 1, 2008 Bottle at Noogfest 08. Pours copper amber with an off white head. Aroma of fruity ale esters and citrusy hops. Medium bodied. Flavor of caramel with a moderate amount of sweetness, countered by grapefruit and tangerine hoppiness. This was decent, but comes across more like a double IPA or ASA than a barleywine. I would be curious to try a fresh sample to get more of the hop profile. douglas88 (1812), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 24, 2010 One liter bottle thanks to someone from awhile back- thanks man! Pours a deep bronze color with a large foamy white head. A great sweet BW flavor; rich caramel, loads of hops, sweet and fruity. The flavor is similar; a rich robust flavor of caramel, fruity hops, sweet candies and fruit. Very nice and well-balanced. Tasty, I could have drank the liter myself- thankfully I did not. kiefdog (1788), Tampa, Florida, USA

Very rich aroma of toffee, over ripened fruit, and plenty of hops. The flavor is about the same, but less impressive, you still saticfying. Medium body with average carbonation and a strong bitter finish. Certainly a pleasure to drink. wetherel (1785), Encinitas, California, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 2, 2007 Updated: May 2, 2008Bottle from ratebeer Atlanta gang (probably beeryum) tasted at Pizza Port Strong Ale festival. Nice hoppy aroma. amber color. Small bubble head. Delicious hoppy taste. In the same style as double bastard, a hoppy barley wine. I really love beers in this category. Yet another case, where I rate beers much higher than others. 9,4,9,4,18:4.4
Rerate: Tried again from a bottle received in a trade from Captaincougar on 10/28/08. 6 months old. The hops have faded, and the beer has lost it’s greatness in my mind. Best drunk fresh. IMHO. 8,3,8,4,17:4.0
