Commercial Description:
A medium bodied, copper colored Mexican pale ale with an excellent balance of flavors and tastes, more inclined towards the English variety than its American counterpart. Casta Bruna is brewed with four different pale and roasted malts, which provide its exquisite malty character and East Kent Goldings hop, responsible for its well balanced flavor.

Poured flat.Tasted a bit like cardboard and was boring to drink. Althought it isdescribed as a pale ale struck me it was more like a brown ale. Poor.

12 oz. bottle pours a clear copper color with a slight white head. Has a yeasty, grainy, honey sweet smell. Light to medium bodied with a decent amount of carbonation. Has a nice fruity malt flavor with a subtle hop bite to finish. Very smooth and easy drinking. A good English style Pale Ale. Sept 2004

Bottle @ Mexican cafe. Reddish copper. Malt driven with toffee notes. Ok but perhaps hasn’t travelled well

bottle from the rake. I wouldn’t have normally given this a go with the rake’s selection freshly updated, but Richard insisted I try it as a freebie - who am I to argue? I was totally surprised by this one. Richard was giving me a full-on drunken lecture on the quality of American pale ales and as my nose steadily crinkled up more and more, I could see that I’d hit a nerve. He’s never been much of a "beer-bully", but I’m glad he pushed me into having this one. Clear red-amber with almost no head. From the aroma alone, I’d have guessed this was a framboise - very strong smell of raspberries with hints of sweet cherry and other dark fruits. Taste of malts, dark fruits and cane sugar. Finish is sugary with a taste of boiled berries. Syrupy body. Overall, the beer is far too sweet.

Reddish brown, nice head. The aroma is very malty with hints of plum, and I would never have guessed, that this is a pale ale. the flavour is very malty with weak notes of dark fruits, candy sugar and sweetness. The finish has a light citrussy sourness. I would like some character and complexity in this too malty and sweet beer..
