The flavor is real hoppy and the Cascade flavor comes through big time. The beer is not unbalanced though and the malt makes up the background. This beer reminds me of New River Pale Ale. They are both delicious. jcwattsrugger (6186), Florida and, New Jersey, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 5, 2008 (bottle) Rich amber body and a medium sized, rocky off-white head. The aroma is fresh, floral hops, and sweet sugar and malt. Medium bodied, and somewhere between a creamy and oily mouthfeel. The flavor has lots of fresh hops, but with a bit of sweetness up front that balances it out to maintain a refreshing feel. The finish is more bitter. I was very pleasantly surprised by this beer from just down the road. blklab2007 (1030), Connecticut, USA

Bottle poured into a pint glass produced a finger worth of white hear that settled to a thick lace. The body of the brew was a clear copper in color.
The aroma coming from this is quite hoppy for a pale. I really like it in all its piney, citric goodness. The flavor is the same as the nose hop forward grassy and bitter. It had a light feel in my mouth and crisp on my tongue.
Truly an easy drinking APA sessionable and refreshing I would drink it again

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 18, 2007 12oz bottle. Pretty exciting to try a newly bottled brew from a fairly local new brewery. The recipe on this one seems to be pretty solid out of the gate. Golden, clear pour with a bubbly white head. Decent aroma, but great hops in the mouth. The bitter receptors were delightfully activated with some respectful caramel malt to help balance it out. Crisp, dry, unoffensive finish considering the amount of hops. I’m also excited that they grow their own hops on the property. Will probably go back to this one. ksurkin (509), Norfolk, Virginia, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 2, 2009 on draft at capital ale house downtown. this was certainly the surprise beer of the night. pours a light, very clear, copper color with a bright white head a big lacing. aroma was big fresh hops, very grassy, with some hints of rose petals, pine, and citrus. flavor was surprisingly bright and fresh as well with grassy, bitter hops up front with citrus notes of grapefruit and orange pith. a very subtle light malt presence added a very nice balance. palate was very clean, slightly dry, with good carbonation and a lasting bitterness. overall, a very nice session pale from VA. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 29, 2008 one of my first reviews from the brewery:
Deep amber pour... head is on the short side, but long lasting - a light, almost sandy white. Lacing sticks the the glass all the way down.
Light, floral hops... could be a little more aromatic and crisp, but the aroma present is a nice one.
Round hop flavours... but very well-balanced all around. Citrus, herbal. Some sweetness in the body. One of the better local IPAs I’ve had the pleasure of tasting.
Beautiful... slippery, but not quite oily. Glides through the mouth, just shy of leaving behind a sticky residue, which makes for an overall smooth drink.
Nice attributes, it’s definitely one to be followed up with more. With a start like this, Blue Mountain could make for one of the finer breweries on the East coast.
