UPDATED: APR 29, 2021 This is a backlog rating from 2008 from a bottle purchased at Party Source, from notes. When I had this beer it was average to below average for the style and not something I wanted to have again or I just didn't get back to my notes because of my technology at the time, work and/or family. Words to describe this beer are caramel, toasted malts, grassy, mild general fruit character, the nose had some off funk to it.

There is little that differentiates this beer from better doppelbocks. Caramel body, some nuttiness, with an oily slick mouthfeel.

12oz KC bottle. Pours a clear, amber-brown color with a small tan head and no lacing. Gentle aroma of sweeter malts, light coffee and chocolate. Flavor is strange. Slightly bitter from burnt malt plus a sour twinge. Maybe a little metallic too. A little malt and bittersweet chocolate lurking in there too. Thinner than expected mouthfeel.

Great name but the beer did not hold up. Nutty and golden in color hoping for darker. Lots of malt flavors. Lots of bread like flavor I should add. This missed the mark.

Bottle at LS X. Amber brown pour with some off-white bubbles around the rim. Caramel and bread aroma. Flavor is bread, caramel, raisin. This was pretty watery and thin feeling. Wasn’t too big on this one.

12 oz. bottle from The Party Source. Pours a clear, deep amber with a small off-white head that leaves some lacing. Aroma of malt, hops, grass, earth, caramel. The flavor is better- sweet caramel, malt, hops, earth, brown sugar, roast. Slightly skunky, light-medium bodied, roasted finish.

This poured a reddish brown color with an off white head. Aroma was a bit off, somewhat os puke and garbage. Flavor was much much better than aroma, containing sweetness and darker frits upfront and then a nice roasted finish. Tastes decent, just dont smell it.
