| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Dec 12, 2008 Bottle. Moderate malt and hop aromas of roasted, caramel and orange, light yeast of soap and meat with white wine, brown sugar and vanilla in the background. Head is creamy, white with excellent lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is sparkling clear light copper. Flavor starts moderately acidic, lightly bitter and a touch sour, then the long finish is moderately bitter. Palate is medium, dry and has a soft carbonation. It finishes moderate to heavily astringent. Smells great, but both flavor and mouthfeel are a little harsh.

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 3, 2010 Mendocino Imperial IPA ia a dense, amber ale with a big, fluffy, white head that has great retention and lacing. It has a fresh, bready and hoppy aroma. It somehow smells like something off cask. There are lots of citrus notes, especially orange and tangerine. It’s pretty thick and syrupy; quite smooth with a dry, wooden finish. It tastes a bit sweet and not super bitter. The flavor is mostly resiny. I have the feeling that a lot of the alpha acids have degraded. I don’t see a timestamp on the label but it’s a winter seasonal and it’s almost March so. ... The aftertaste is wooden herbal and medicinal. It’s a pretty acceptable beer. Nuffield (2766), Roseville, Minnesota, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Feb 27, 2010 Winter seasonal, it says on the label. I suppose, though I don’t think of this as an inherently winter beer. Big hoppy nose, which is where this beer excels. Decent mouthfeel, reasonably thick and coating. After that the flavor was rather more moderate than I thought it would. I suppose that’s a good thing, as there is a sense of balance and it avoids the worst faults of both the IPA and DIPA beers. MIddle of the pack Imperials IPA. Bottle. bobman006 (121), New Jersey, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Feb 14, 2010 Bottle. Unclear orange amber with lively white head. Aroma is earthy with caramel, citrus, pine, and pepper. Flavors of caramel, grapefruit, orange, biscuit, pine, and peppery spice. Medium body with smooth mouthfeel and medium-low carbonation. Impressive. aaronbr (73), Palo Alto, California, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 10, 2010 Pours a very nice orange-copper color. Very good-looking. Pretty hoppy, all told, a tasty IPA. Pretty straightforward - nothing too distinctive, but nothing bad. craftbeerdesign (872), Alpharetta, Georgia, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Jan 23, 2010 Updated: Jan 24, 2010single bottle from total wine... this falls between an IPA and a IIPA.... not quite up to the level of a IIPA... excellent price on this one - a great bargain for a very good beer. pours a deep orange with a nice rocky white head... good retention throughout... big orange, caramel malt and citrus hop aromas... big body with a solid balance between the hops and malts... somewhat sticky and bitter - along with the more sweet caramel malts. nice sticky bitter finish, but falls a bit short. curly (1071), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 18, 2010 2007 Bottle. Pours hazy orange, thick frothy light tan head. Aroma- floral, pine, citrus, faded hops, toffee. Taste is bitter but the hops are old. Well balanced. Tastes good but would be better fresh. Thick body, smooth. Bitter finish. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 12, 2010 This is one of the best bangs for the buck. Not really a imperial, but overall a nice IPA. $7.99 a six is a great price, so pick up a case, I do... Nice overall citrus notes. Clean crisp finish with slight bitterness. Drinkability is very high, @ 7.5% you can still drink sixer.
