COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Unlike typical porters, our Baltic Porter is brewed in the traditional style as a bottom-fermenting lager. The result is a luxuriously round, but robust, black beer with a mild bitterness. A special blend of roasted malts provides this porter with flavors and aromas of chocolate and coffee, and you’ll enjoy it’s subtle hints of cherry-smoked malt.

This is a great strong Porter. It’s dark malty, silky smoothness is not overshadowed by the high alcohol content. The taste is chocolate, vanilla, coffee and a slight smoky malt. There’s a sweet sensation on the palate initially which fades to reveal the hops later. Great example.

On tap at the Knick. Rich malt, chocolate, coffee, molasses alcohol vapors. Sweet and musky, a great aroma. Heavy body with medium-light carbonation. Alcohol warming. Dark black opaque with very thin light tan head. Starts and stays sweet, rich with roasted barley, and chocolate. Sweet throughout. Big sweet finish with mild smooth and light bitterness. Sugary lingering after with warming.

Nice dark color with mocha head. Aroma is a bit faint. Just some dark malts and faint coffee and cacao. Taste is very weird. Reminds of a German dunkel but not a very good one. It’s just on the border between sweet and roasty but it’s not falling in any category. That doesn’t mean it’s balanced, it’s just... weird. Body is also on the medium-thin side showing it’s lager characteristic. I can’t say it was bad but I didn’t really enjoy it.

draught@Erzbierschof - ruby-black beer with a persistent dark beige foam; roasted aroma of pralines and vanilla; full-bodied and very sweet; light tartness, some bitterness; long residual sweetness and solid notes of vanilla, coffee, milk chocolate and candy sugar - a huge and pleasant dessert beer yet a bit too sweet to be really great

(Bottle) Pours black with dark brown to black with a pale brown head. The aroma holds sweet dark bread up front with undertones of caramel, potatoes, liquorice and earth. The flavour is near medium sweet, light bitter and tiny acidic with notes of dark bread, dark syrup and earthy hops. The mouthfeel is clean and sticky with a soft carbonation. Medium to full carbonation. Quite bock-ish.
