trapped (7472) - New York, TURKEY - JUN 12, 2023
UPDATED: JUN 12, 2023 Draught @ Barcade - St.Marks, Manhattan (5/16/23). Cloudy dark yellow-light amber with a very small frothy off-white head that flops fast, faint piney aroma, low carbonation, medium bitter piney taste with lavender-like floral aroma, thin body, long bitter finish. Classical American IPA with enhanced flavor.

From a bomber. Pours a clear copper with a massive, long-lasting head. Weedy aroma. Flavors of grass and resin. Bitter finish.

3.4
asheft (3161) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 12, 2015
On tap while stuck in Newark. Diacetyl aroma apparent right away, in front of caramel malt, and lemon and strawberry accents. Almost clear amber under white wisps and collar. Sweet and moderate bitterness in the flavour leaves the balance towards sweet. Caramel and butterscotchy diacetyl dominate earthy, English hops. Medium body, moderate carbonation, smooth. Classic Ringwood beer that is likely to be misunderstood.

BeerandBlues2 (20220) - Woodland Park, Colorado, USA - OCT 26, 2013
Cask at Uno’s Metuchen. Pours clear amber with a small, bubbly off-white head, short retention with light lacing. Aroma is toast, caramel, and cookie malt with earthy hops, dates and figs. Flavor is moderate hops and bitterness, light esters, cherry, and a dry finish. Medium body and carbonation.

Ed5388 (3492) - Forked River, New Jersey, USA - JUN 6, 2013
12oz bottle. Pours a hazy burnt orange color with no head. Aroma of caramel, candied oranges, and slightly floral. Taste is caramel up front, followed by some sweet citrus fruit in the middle, and ends with a sharp piny bitterness.

ganache (6773) - New Jersey, USA - MAR 18, 2013
Bottle. Nose biggest in caramel, sweet with fruit, hops, pours ruby-tinged golden with a large rocky beige head. Taste is very sweet with much lighter bitterness. Caramel and generic but very intense fruitiness, aggressive medium-full body. I can never tell with these homebrewish ales if they’re infected or just fermented weirdly, yeast is always out of control.

For starters, I should have known better simply because the bottle cap is generic. If the brewery can’t afford to brand their bottle cap, how can they afford decent hops? Anyway, carefully pouring the beer into my mug resulted in half beer, half foam. I had to wait a good 10 minutes for the foam to settle before emptying the bottle. The beer itself has very little IPA flavor to it. Hardly a hint of hoppiness or bitterness. It reminds me more of a Blue Moon with the orange already squeezed into the bottle before it was even poured. This is the second time I’ve tried Climax IPA, six months from the first try, so it’s not a fluke. If you’re looking for a true microbrew IPA, don’t include Climax on your hit list.

rlgk (18837) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - SEP 6, 2012
Draught at Rattle&Hum, NYC. Cloudy golden/grey beer with a nice lasting offwhite head. Malty fruity hoppy aroma, grass, hay, floral, citrus, some pepper. Herbal citrus flavor, grassy, metal notes, fruity, grapefruit, banana notes. Decent without being special.
