Commercial Description:
An American rendition of the English IPA. This beer begins with subtle malty sweetness followed by intense bitterness. These flavors give way to the pungent aroma of Classic American hops. A hop-centric beer.

This was an extremely poor IPA. Extremely bitter, too much so. However, there is a sort of heavy sweetness to the beer that, combined with the unbalanced hop presence, makes it thoroughly unenjoyable. The hops have an unbalanced flavour, a little bit of the caraway presence and a sort of planty taste. If you subtract away the hops, the remaining flavour is unpleasant, reminiscent of malt liquor. This one is to be avoided. I continue to be unimpressed with Iron Hill’s offerings.

20100104 Lighter golden color with frothy white head that sticks to the glass in clumps. Beautiful. Light, somewhat grassy aroma with demure grapefruit notes and french bread. Nothing in the aroma would predicate the burst of hops that attack the palate. Soapy, astringent, and brutally dry. Pithy as can be. Very light cracker malts. Finishes scrapingly bitter. Yikes! Fun stuff. Of the sampler, this is the one I bought a pint of.

On cask at the Iron Hill Newark "Cask & Ye Shall Receive"-Amber orange color w/a slight white head. Floral hop aroma. Had a little hops, had a little malt, had a little fruit, had a little interest...just found this to be kind of forgettable, muddled, & boring. A little bit of a woodsy cask flavor on the hop, but this one didn’t do much for me.

On tap at Newark brewery. Poured orange color with a foamy white head that clings to the glass the entire way down. Light hints of citrus and caramel. Taste is caramel, lemon zest and grapefruit that worked nicely. Creamy with a crisp, clean bitterness.

Growler, generously sent by Swolf3, big thanks Steven. Nice dark gold color, frothy white head. Nice hoppy aroma. Nice bitterness, sticks to the tongue for awhile. Very tasty even after the long journey.

On tap at the Newark location: A clear golden yellow? Not much head, ok lacing. Aroma was citrus hops. Flavor was a good amount of bitter hops. I was actually impresed. It was a very clean, crisp refreshing beer! I would get it again. ****UPDATE***** Just had a new batch at the newark location. Wow! Very impressed. Alot different then I remembered. Good aroma of citrus/pine hops and the taste was the same. Nice bitterness to it but still well balanced. ****Update**** Cask at IH Newark, nice beer. Soft low carbonation, bitter, yet balanced. I could drink this all night long

[Cask] Poured a hazy amber color with a small, white head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of floral hops, light pine, grass, caramel malts, and toffee. Taste of citrus fruits, light pine, resin, caramel malts, and a lightly bitter finish.
