COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Sloth is the avoidance of physical or spiritual work. SLOTH Belgian-style Imperial Stout is deliberately dark as hell. The pour is slow and sluggish. Its head is menacing, becoming torn and tattered Belgian lace on the sides of the glass as you cautiously consume this brew—sip by insidious sip. The aroma is sweet from heavy malt and big alcohol with notes of vanilla, coconut and whiskey from the oak. The depth & breadth of roasted malt flavors loiters on the palate while the robust finish lingers, well, forever. SLOTH...Just add couch.

Bottle big thanks to Todd. I appreciate it man. Pours a jet black color with a medium beige head. A big sweet fruity roast nose. Rich sweet chocolate, ash, chocolate, bitter dark chocolate especially, whiskey, vanilla. This is really nice. Soft, very flavorful. Drinkable. No heat. A big whiskey flavor but not overwhelming.

Draft at the source, new version. Opaque dark brown color, brown head with good retention. Aroma of sweet brownies. Taste is boozy chocolate liqueur. Very tasty.

Draught at the brewery. Pours opaque black with a large, creamy tan head, long retention with good lacing. Aroma is roast and chocolate malt, prunes, tobacco, earthy and woody hops with stone fruits. Flavor is dark chocolate and roast malt, lightly tart dark fruits, light earthy hops and bitterness, brown sugar and a sweet finish. Full body and medium carbonation.

Draft at brewery, black beer, skiff of walnut colored foam. Aroma molasses and cookies, vanilla, faint dark fruit. Taste molasses and cookies, vanilla, bourbon, roasty toasted barley, oak, hint of coffee. Finish is lingeringly, almost saccharine bittersweet, not in a bad way, just has hang time. Palate is rich and smooth, carbonation moderate.

Bomber format into a midnight sun globe glass Black with hints of brown and ruby. Lots of dark brown residue on the sides of the glass. Thin dark brown head. Dark Belgian chocolate nose with roast, oak, and lots of dark fruits. Cherry and raspberry for the most part. Taste is dry Belgian chocolate, dry roast, whiskey, tar, tobacco and dark cherry and raspberry. Lots of red wine and grape in the mouth. Lots of tannins. Masterpiece beer. Well balanced. No oxidation in this at all. Full bodied, light carbonation. Complex and just brilliant.

22 oz. bottle sampled at a local ba tasting notes. Pours dark brown to black in color with a small beige head. The aroma and flavor had roasted malts, Belgian chocolate, molasses, oak, some whiskey character, dark fruits, vanilla, coconut and caramel. Was probably the best one of the set at the time.

July 1st Sunday. This series was before my time, but jrob21 let me know this these were kind of a big deal back in 2007. Either way was just a hint of oxidation, this really held up nicely. Huge chocolate, malt balls, hint of char and soy, dark ripe fruits. Big, bold, thick.

Never thought I would see this but thank god I did. Whiskey vanilla aromas. Touch, light of soy sauce flavors. Very smooth and balanced flavor between the barrel and the malt. Roasted malt, milk chocolate rich flavors. So smooth, so nice. Still a really tasty beer.

Rated on 9-25-2009 at Fort Wayne, IN Gathering. This bottled beer courtesy of jsquire pours a small smooth light brown head with a long retention, opaque body, spotty amounts of lacing, and no carbonation. The Aroma is roasted malt, chocolate, vanilla, and alcohol. The Taste is roasted malt, chocolate, and alcohol. The Palate is tingly and this beer is medium-full bodied. Overall, this beer is very tasty as the flavors come together very well. I recommend trying this beer and it is a beer that I would drink again.

Bottle shared by Thoroe429. Thanks Mike! The beer is near black and appears viscous and oily. Minimal beige head. The aroma brings roast, oak, lightly sweet. Mild smoke in the aroma with a delicate warming alcohol finish. Relatively full bodied and palate coating. An outstanding example of the style. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 07-07-2012
