In terms of taste, more of a cross between a pale ale and a true ESB. Tasty, but nothing extraordinary... NJBeerman013 (857), Trenton, New Jersey, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 22, 2008 Thought overall it was very similar to snpa - maybe just a little bit less of the hop bite. Pours a clear amber color with some bubbly white head. Aroma and flavor are both dominated by earthy hops, though as mentioned flavor is a little milder and sweeter. Overall, pretty good. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 20, 2008 Sierra Nevada has taken the standard ESB recipe and enlarged the malt and hops profile in their version. Red medium bodied with thin cream top, spiced bitterness, caramel malts and a grainy bite. At almost 6% ABV, not a "long" session beer. shadey (1502), Rochester, New York, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 8, 2008 12oz bottle purchased at Beers of the World. The pour is a nice orange/amber with a thin lacy head of white cream. The aroma is nicely hoppy and grassy with hints of the sweet malt that awaits. I’m expecting a very refreshing beer.
The flavor is grassy hops, caramel malt, and and a dry grassy finish. I wasn’t expecting such high alcohol from an ESB, but I can’t taste it, so I guess it’s not so bad. A nice American-ized ESB. bb (3153), Martinez, California, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jan 31, 2008 Pours a transparent bright copper orange with a clingy-lacing forth of off-white head. Aroma of lightly toasted and semi-sweet pale malts with some piny English hops. Starts fairly full bodied and semi-sweet with a lightly citrusy hop flavor and some earthy bitterness toward a semi-dry finish. Pretty true to style with a slightly spicy earthy bitterness throughout. kmeves (1082), Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin, USA
