COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Note: the latest vintage (2018) released is cognac barrel aged: https://www.ratebeer.com/beer/struise-pannepot-grand-reserva-cognac/880159/, earlier versions were calvados. "Vintage 2005" description: Our PGR has aged for 24 months on oak barrels and has been bottled for the first time on the 27th of December 2007. The main difference with the Pannepot Reserva is that PGR matured the last ten months on Calvados oak barrels, adding extra complexity to the beer. We dedicate this beer as a tribute to Jeppe & Michael of Ølbutikken in Denmark. Those gentlemen were the first to discover our beers on an International basis back in 2004 and are responsable somehow for our beers being all over the globe since then. As a token of gratitude towards Jeppe & Michael, the first shipment of PGR was scheduled to Ølbutikken so they could be the first to launch its commercialisation.

Daboch (1603) - Gdansk, POLAND - APR 20, 2024
UPDATED: APR 20, 2024 Ciemnobrunatne piwo z niezłą pianą która dość szybko opada. Bogaty aromat suszonych ciemnych owoców, karmelu, toffi, czekolady, calvadosu i wiele innych. Smak daje to co obiecuje aromat, słodkie z nutą wytrawną

UPDATED: JUN 10, 2023 From a 330 ml bottle vintage 03/12/2019. Bottled 01/20/2022. The color is chocolate brown with a small tan head. I get chocolate aroma notes and a wooden Bourbon note. Dark roasted malts. The body is full and smooth. The taste is sweet and roasted with molasses and earth.

UPDATED: APR 10, 2023 Vintage 2019 Drank April 2023 Aroma is toffee apple, port, cherry … Soft carbonation, really smooth, wine-like drinking. Very pleasant, warming barrel aging qualities take the lead but don’t overpower the original ale. Raisin, dates, cherry, all things nice.

BBHansen (3047) - Køge, DENMARK - FEB 10, 2023
UPDATED: FEB 10, 2023 Bottle @ Køge Harbour w friends/Maltkings. Appearance: pours cloudy brown with ok short-lived beige soapy head and lacing. Aroma/taste: bread, brown sugar, prunes, dried fruits, alcohol, apples, spices, vanilla and oak. Palette: strong malty and yeasty aroma, low to average carbonation, full body, medium to distinct sweetness, somewhat balanced by a medium bitterness, long duration and an oily texture. Overall: Excellent oak strong ale.

ReV2 (262) - Northampton, Northamptonshire, ENGLAND - DEC 22, 2022
UPDATED: DEC 22, 2022 Bottled and sipped gently whilst watching the world go by in the Kaffee Bazaar, Ieper. 2011 vintage sampled in 2017. Poured black with a fine tawny head, aroma of sweet malts and dark fruits. Taste, a scrumptious blend of roasted malt, chocolatey and a fine hop balance trying, but failing to usurp the malt. 'tis a fine beer Captain oh, Captain, 'tis for sure..

Miły (1088) - Kielce, POLAND - SEP 16, 2022
UPDATED: SEP 16, 2022 Vintage 2011. Goryczka niska, alkoholowa z nutami pieprzowymi, krótka. Finisz wytrawny, lekko kwaśny z niewielkim, gładkim i szlachetnym alkoholem, nutami ciemnych słodów (ciemnego pieczywa, czekolady) oraz minimalnym tanicznym ściąganiem z akcentami dębiny.

dunklermessias (3049) - GERMANY - APR 16, 2022
UPDATED: NOV 21, 2023 Sensory Session #57: Vintage 2010. Nearly black color and a small white head. Nose is acidic, old vinegar to balsamico, very well balance of tart balsamico and roasted malts. Some red fruits and black currant at the palate. Faint licorice finish. Vintage 2015: Opaque, black-brownish sofort and quick dissapearing tan head. Nose is vineous, slightly acidic with hints of balsamico. Bready-malty Taste, dried fruits and rum-rasins sweetness over a slightly presenr balsamico tartness. Nice.

GlenPiWi (665) - Vilvoorde, BELGIUM - DEC 10, 2021
UPDATED: DEC 10, 2021 Vintage 2011. Pours dark blackish brown with superfast disappearing head, very little carbonation. Good but not great nose: a little sour, wood, dried fruits. Palate: again that very tiny sour, raisins, chocolate, spices, apple, wood, dark dried fruits. Good but expected more of this one…
