Carbonation takes its time floating to the top. Citrus fruit and caramel in the aroma along with some alcohol. This is a very well hopped beer but they barely balance out the massive amount of caramel malts. It is also full of floral flavors as well as fruit. This is balanced in waves. First the caramel dominates then grapefruit hops take over. All of the waves are big and it is fun to taste them as they crash and fade. Feel is oily and smooth. Bitterness builds as the beer warms and the feel also smooths out even more. bb (3153), Martinez, California, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 27, 2009 750ml bottle, dated 2009. Pours a hazy orange amber with a frothy smallish head that goes to a thin film that leaves some lacing.
The aroma is sweet caramel malts, toasted toffee, and some fruits and a little alcohol.
The flavor is toasted biscuity malts, nuts and some fruitiness with a little alcohol and some decent bitterness in the finish. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with low smooth carbonation.
Overall, an interesting beer. I like this a lot better than than the regular version but there’s still some of the toasted biscuity malts that I don’t much care for. kkearn (1053), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Oct 4, 2008 bottle. Poured dark amber, topped with a moderate-sized tan head. Aroma of yeast, hops, toffee, grain and some vegetal character. Aroma was unmistakably Rogue. Flavor of caramel, earthy hops, yeast, and grain. Moderately bitter finish. It’s not bad, but the pricey bottle will likely keep me from ever trying it again. JoeMcPhee (5156), Jackson Heights, NY, Nova Scotia, Canada

Starts off a little bit metallic but this quickly fades. Light pine and sweet herbal hoppiness. Rich sweet and chewy, some light sweet caramel malts. Sweet and nutty with some light citrus/berry fruity character. It’s a pretty nice brew. tupalev (2629), Waterloo, Ontario, Canada
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 5, 2009 Bottle, thanks C & K! Love the bottle itself. Looks good - deep orange, nice creamy white head. Good aroma - spicy, sweet, and even floral. Taste is decent - very sweet, a little spicy, some alcohol. Some hops in the finish too. Comes off as a bit too syrupy sweet, but drank cold this is negated somewhat. Good, but does not make me want another one. Thanks for the east coast pick up though C & K!
