The classic Bitburger - a mature and most agreeable beer - is brewed with the best of ingredients in the same traditional way it has been for many, many years. The result is delicately tart and pleasantly bitter - with a strong hop taste.

Jaune pâle avec une petite tête blanche. L’arôme des céréales et un peu d’houblon en la finale. C’est pareille en bouche, très rafraîchissant, facile à boire.

Light malty aroma, with the lager foot funk ish smell in there. Light in appearance and taste, but there is some flavor. Crisp finish, slight bitterness. Ok. Wouldn’t drink much or buy it, but descent. In the Budweiser flavor category, but better made and probably with better ingredients and a cleaner taste. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Clear golden. Small white head. Faint hop aroma, a bit offputing. Bitter. Light body and thin texture with average carbonation. Overall I’d say it reminded me a lot of Warsteiner and while it is drinkable, there are better ones available at the same price point.

I poured a 500ml can into a mug. It had a freshness date of either 1/8/15 or 8/1/15 and cost $1.99 ($0.12 per ounce).

Appearance: White gold hue over a slightly hazy body. Plenty of carbonation visible. Pours to a two-finger, white, foamy head which laces and retains relatively well.

Smell: Seemingly skunky at first, but it’s an herbal aroma from the Noble hops. Otherwise a standard pilsner aroma.

Taste: Bitburger has always been one of those import lagers I’ve never really given much respect to because I haven’t heard anyone I trust recommend it. I bought this can on a whim and I have to say I’m genuinely surprised by how good this beer is. This definitely embodies the German-style pilsner style in pretty much all aspects. It’s not a particularly complex palette, but what’s here is definitely satisfying and tasty. Plenty of pale maltiness with a slight cracker-like flavor. The Noble hops are quite prominent as well, especially on the finish as they create for an herbal spiciness and a dry bitterness. A dash of lemon can be found lurking in the background as well. There’s not generic pale lager character since it’s clearly an all-malt brew. A bit of a mineral quality gives it distinctiveness, and doesn’t come off as a flaw. I’m not usually a fan of pilsners, but this was a fun beer to drink.

Drinkability: At only 4.8% ABV, Bitburger Premium Pils is a beer I could consider sessioning. It’s refreshing while in the mouth and finishes mostly clean, but with a slightly dry bitterness in the aftertaste. The mouthfeel is not truly thin, but not quite medium, either. Plenty of consistent carbonation makes it crisp, though it’s not spastic to the point of being difficult to get down.

Pleasant, refreshing Pilsner with a decidedly hoppy taste and long, relatively dry, bitter finish.

Tasted both in its original form and under the name Bitburger Premium Beer, which is apparently used for export in cans. Sticky snow-white, thinnish and eventually dissolving head on a straw-yellow beer, cristal clear with a continuous, lively, fine sparkling. Grainy and bit doughy aroma, hints of gum, iron, faintly citrussy hops and parsil. Taste more graininess, metallic, pale malt sweetishness, bit tart accent, quite sharp carbonation and peppery and leafy hop bitterness towards the end, long and thirst-quenching. One of the best known German pale lagers but surely far from the best.
