COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beer was brewed in sept. 06 and has since then been aged in oak barrels until bottling on March 22. 2008. The beer is blended for roundness but is still very sour and a little bit acetic. We think our first attempt has been a great success and we will definitely try this again. 8.5% alc. 20 ibu. Serve at 8-12C Information from 2022: Nordic oud Bruin. Handbak is our take on a sour brown or oud bruin. A beloved classic, this was the first commercial sour in Norway. ABV has varied: 2008 - 8.5% 2009 - 8.0% 2018 - 6.7%

UPDATED: DEC 28, 2021 A confusing little one this is..., what batch is each batch? Anywho, onto the tasting.
Christmas day beer of Mane Liquor Advent Calendar 2021.
Into a snifter at just on cool. Produces a ruby brown; shimmering and sparkling in the lights. Head is minimal; little more than a thin but finely held off-white layer that manages a fine lace. There is a tart, hessian and horse blanket note to the nose. Peppery and very spicy with woody oaken tones atop hits of muscat, tawny port, red wine vinegar and golden sultanas. Pucker up on the palate, but not for fear of acid. This is bone dry and saps the palate of moisture. Fruity mix of berries and vinous notes. Red wine vinegar comes to mind but it has a depth of dark fruit. Leather and hessian linger long between swallows. Woody with cellar must. Piquant yet leaner than water in body. Lightly abrasive as it warms further The carbonation kept to a light spritziness. Done a grand ol' job to be honest. First Oud Bruin in many years so two thumbs up from me. Well attenuated funk and junk. Good job Haand of Norway!! (Blend #1 2020, 37,5cL, 6.7% ABV, Mane Liquor Belmont)

hawthorne00 (8459) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - JUL 12, 2020
UPDATED: JUL 12, 2020 Bottle. Deep brown with a beige head that's soon less than a coat. Aroma of wine vinegar, oak, caramel, bread, cherries. Slippery, low carbonation. Quite sour and quite acidic with clear vinegar notes along with wood, sour cherries, caramel. Nothing overwhelming though and there's spicy and brackenish notes along with oak at the end that finishes things neatly. Pretty good.
