Commercial Description:
Dobbel Dose or Dobbel Dram is a double IPA made with european style hops rather than US hops. This beer is also heavily dryhopped in the aging tank for the extra hop taste and aroma.
9% alc. 82 ibu and 22 ebc. Made from Maris Otter malt, wheat malt and Crystal.
Serve at 10-12C or 50-55F. Goes well with spicy food and grilled meat. American Bottle Label -- "Double Dram" is made with more of everything, including all the hops the Hand Brewery’s tiny brew-kettle can take. Feisty American hops for bittering are followed by noble Fuggles and Styrian Goldings for a spicy, flowery aroma. As tradition dictates, this is an exceptionally hardy brew, made to weather the long, hard ocean voyage to anywhere...

Pours a dark amber color. Well balanced IIPA. Decent amount of malt to back up the hops. Caramel, biscuits, citrus, grafefruit, fruit, sweet malt, and grass. Not a huge beer, but well done.

Thanks to kiefdog for this one. A: Pours a dark orange with a creamy white head. S: Aromas of pine, candy sugar, and citrus. T: Lots of honey and sweet candy like malt. Light pine and citrus hops. Malt dominates this one though. M: Medium in body, smooth, creamy. D: Just okay.

Nice but unremarkable double. Cloudy orange pour, thin white head. A fruity aroma. Flavor is mostly malty with a bit of grass and citrus. Not that hoppy for a double.

Bottle from Kahns Liquors (Indianapolis, IN). Pours a hazy caramel to golden color with thin white head. Aroma is sweet and floral with notes of honey, citrus, grapefruit, spice, yeast. Flavor is sweet and floral with notes of hops, caramel, honey. Medium body with a light floral hop finish.

Pours deep orange with white head, extremely thick and opaque with good hoppy flavors but is too overpowering with the malt for a DIPA, hops are covered up a bit with a sweet finish. Good, but not great.

Thanks kiefdog for the share. Pours hazy orange with a white head. Nose is sour orange, malt, some spiciness that turns into citrus character. Flavor is citrus with malt and some hop characteristics. Bit of lingering citrus into the finish. Ok, not my favorite.

20100212 500ml bottle from State Line. Cloudy amber with little, fleeting head. Aroma is full of autumn flowers, honey, curacao, cookie dough. At first I was put off by the aroma, thinking it just oxidized and plain, but as it warms especially I find it very pleasant though a bit mild for an IIPA. Full, sticky mouthfeel is very sweet across the middle, then a bit sticky and jammy on the finish. Lingering bitterness, pithy. Overall a pleasant beer, though not something I’m likely to pony up the big bucks to try again.

Bottle. Poured a clear dark orange color. The head was dense and off white with a yellow-orange tint. Nice lace was left behind on the glass at the end. Pleasant DIPA nose with element of caramel, vanilla, pine, and citrus liqueur. Medium bodied and sweet with moderate carbonation. The sugars were attenuated somewhat by moderate bitterness. Pine and citrus hop flavors dominated with some caramel malt. Earthy dried leaves and a hint of champagne emerged at the end.

Pours copper. Nose is noble hops, flowers, sweet malts, veggies. Flavors are some piney hops, floral hops, sweet caramel, grassy, fresh picked hops and booze. Not bad.
