cmonster (1001) - Portland, Oregon, USA - NOV 21, 2010Sampled on Maui. Needless to say this is one that needs to canned or shipped in kegs to the west coast. The batch I tried was rum aged CoCo with cherries and vanilla. Nice marriage. The rum was prominent throughout with the fruit and vanilla playing a complimentary role. Medium body, creamy mouthfeel, and a roasty, sweet finish. Huge flavor. Great name.
Vikingbrew (193) - Colorado, USA - OCT 6, 2010Poured by the brewer. Dark brown/black color with a low off white head. Rich chocolate, rum, coconut, vanilla aroma. Equally intense flavor. Moderate alcohol warmth. Very delicious! A great treat!
manuchampions (1259) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - AUG 21, 2010Sample at Maui Brewing in Lahaina. Pours a deep brown, almost black with thin tan head. Aroma is similar to the coconut porter but a tad more boozy (rum?). Taste has all the attributes of the standard porter but amped up by the rum ageing, It’s a decent end result but somehow detracts from the glory that is the standard coconut porter. Okay.

DubC5000 (305) - San Francisco, California, USA - APR 18, 2010The Maui Coconut Porter is one of my favorite porters, so I had to try this ale. Aroma was toasty and woody, with a hint of coffee. The toasted coconut flavors were prominent, along with a mild sweetness that was pleasant and not sickening. It was a bit slimy going down rather than creamy, but I’ll let that slide. Lovely brown-black in hue.
