Commercial Description:
A bock beer with a beautiful, deep golden hue. Very smooth, this beer has great depth of character, and is an excellent beer to celebrate the end of winter and beginning of spring. Available February through April.

bottle. color is an amber orange without much of a head. mild malt flavor and a mouthfeel that is almost medium-bodied in nature. a decent brew, but nothing spectacular here to bring me back again.

Flavors were good. It had the taste of non-traditional grains (hay, oats, alfalfa) and sweet like an over-ripe banana. As it warmed up, the flavor improved. Very tasty, and I usually don’t like Maibocks. Aroma was pretty hard to get, but was more pronounced as it warmed. Perfumed hops and sweet malts. Appearance had a rocky/creamy head that disapated fully within 5 minutes. The body was a clear reddish color and actually had pretty good lacing. The palate was very smooth and appealing.

This bock is all about interesting and complimenting pairings. The full-bodied malt taste with notes of apple and spice are paired with a light smokiness similar to the taste of baked root vegetables. A good sweetness paired with delicate bitter citrus and sap in the hop. A smooth texture and palate paired with a solid thickness and moderate alcohol content. These pairings well reflect the Wisconsin spring of days of cool rains paired with days of warm sun.

Clear brownish, with an off-white head. Toasty, bready aroma. Malty sweet, slight canned corn flavor, with a prickly alcoholic pepper finish. Full bodied with a hnt of smokyness, as well. Mildly greasy palate. Thanks to Jewedekind for the trade!

Beautiful bright copper in color with a thin white head, crystal clear. Malty aroma with spicey yeast. The malt aroma is bready not quite carmelly. The flavor follows the aroma, sweet almost carmel, slight peppery yeast and warming alcohol in the finish. Good malt body and balancing bitterness. This is a fabulous example of the style.

Gitchee Gumee Brewfest 2005. Alright, another blond, bland Maibock! Not. Geez, I’m getting tired of these things. They have no depth or character. Just sugary, sweet malt with a little bit of hops. This one is especially bland with a light finish of honey. Maybe it was the overwhelming presence of these beers as the Brewfest and this one was later on, but this one is just not interesting, at all.

On tap. Amber orange in color with a small head which completely diminished. Aromas of caramel and apples, very light. Toasted strawish flavor, very balanced. Watery and smooth, easy to drink.

Clear brown color with a rich, off white head. Aroma is nice and light with some orange, caramel and apples. Taste is smooth and creamy with some flavors of toasted malts, more caramel and a nice hop bite. Really drinkable and very smooth.
