COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our take on the stout brewed by 18th century English brewers for the Russian Imperial Court of Catherine II. The special malted barley in this intense and massive brew delivers rich flavors like dark chocolate, coffee and anise.

Idiosynkrasie (16065) - Bielefeld, GERMANY - SEP 3, 2019
UPDATED: SEP 3, 2019 355ml bottle. Jet black colour with late awakening, average, thick, creamy, moderately lasting and lacing, tan head. Roasty, chocolately, dark malty and fruity aroma, notes of dark chocolate, blueberry, blackberry, some cherry, a touch of molasses, cocoa, minimally smoky overtones. Taste is sweet-ish, roasty and chocolately dark malty, fruity hoppy, notes of dark chocolate, hints of blueberry, blackberry, a touch of cherry, minimally smoky overtones, a minimally metallic touch as well, some aniseed; vestiges of alcohol in the finish. Not the most complex Impy Stout, but focussed, pursuing a clear idea.

Jabah (2555) - Fairfax, Virginia, USA - MAR 4, 2019
UPDATED: MAR 4, 2019 Easy drinking for an IPS given the ABV closer to 9%. With so many out there though, this one doesn't really stand out. Maybe a too much roastiness or burnt coffee in the malt, followed by some extra bitter in the hops....so basically found the balance to be off. I guess that I prefer my stouts on the sweeter side, unless the balance is right. Appearance is great....jet black with creamy texture and dark mocha head. Glad that I finally got to try...it is a good beer....just will be going other directions in the future. Willing to pay a little extra for better quality.

ads135 (8029) - Omaha, Nebraska, USA - AUG 29, 2017
Tried for the first time back in 2009. Dark and rich. As far an imperial stouts go, its solid, but not spectacular. Lots of chocolate and dark fruit, some raisins, a little vanilla. Pleasant.

Bottle @ Wordenskjolds. Appearance: clear black with good beige creamy head and lacing. aroma/taste: caramel, bread, coffee, chocolate, light dark fruits, light alcohol and licorice. palette: strong roasted malty aroma, medium carbonation, full body, average to notable sweetness, balanced by an average bitterness, long duration and an oily texture. Overall - very nice and smooth imp stout.
