COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This ale marks our journey to the only place on the planet where fresh hops are harvested in our spring, the Southern Hemisphere. Our task was daunting-we needed to get the hops picked, dried, flown halfway across the world and into our brew kettle in a little over a week’s time. The result is a North-by-South fusion of fresh New Zealand hops blended with the finest North American malts. Its robust hop character presents an intriguing floral-citrus aroma leading to layers of fresh-hop spiciness. Enjoy!

Refrigerated 12 oz. aluminum can, canned on May 23, 2018, poured into a tulip. Cloudy light orange with big white head. Aroma is light herbal hops, medium body, medium carbonation, and a little lacing. Taste is citrus hops, herbal hops, and bitter finish.

12 oz can from the new mix pack. I guess this is where it belongs. Aroma is lightly catty, grapefruit, melon, mango, light passion fruit. Pours hazy golden with a one finger cream-colored head with good retention. Taste is moderately bitter with a little candy sweetness; pithy bitterness lingers long after the swallow. Almost seems like an attempt at a NE style, although it's a lot more bitter than is typical. Perfect mouthfeel. Nice one.

"I was very impressed with this beer. Somebody shopping at my beer retailer recommended this to try. I was a little hesitant after sampling a few other Sierra Nevada's, especially for the $5.25 price tag for 24oz. He said the same, wasn't too fond of Sierra Nevada, but this being one of their "specialty brews" was worth the try. I agree 100%. Might not be able to compete with some of the best IPAs out there, but I would say this is high 2nd tier. The fresh hop selection gives it a very well balanced hoppy flavor that works well with the malts. Appearance is a little bit on the copper side for an IPA, but has a bit of an orange hint. I would definitely be willing to try this again.

From Jun 2008 Purchased at Wilbur's Total Beverage. I wasn't a big fan of their other Harvest Ale but here goes. It pours a nice clear reddish amber with a 2 finger head of foam. There's some nice lacing and the head retention is excellent. The smell is on the light side but I get good notes of fresh hops(citrus), some caramel, and some nice fruitiness. The taste is pretty big on the hops...some grapefruit, floral, and some grass but there's a solid backbone of malt here as well with some caramel and bread. Nice. Oh, and there's a bit more citrus here than just the grapefruit, a nice touch of lemon and maybe some tangerine. Yep. I'm liking this way more than the other HA; thanks Sierra Nevada! It has a nice medium mouthfeel and it finishes semi dry with a mix of hops and bready malt. Hey, I'm pretty impressed with the NZ hops used here and in fact, pretty impressed with the whole drinking experience. I would buy this again, no problem!

Draft at the NC source. Hazy golden-amber pour with a full, sticky off-white head. Lots of fruity hops aromas. Flavors are tangerines, orange rind, pineapple, light caramel and tons fresh hops. Nice bitter finish. Excellent, one to look for every year. (2015 version, notes).

Draft Half Pint at White Horse, Parsons Green, London in Aug 2010 - Light orangey copper in colour. Piney and floral hoppy aroma. Very hoppy (fresh piney oily resinous spicy hops). Very fruity (citrus, grapefruit and lemon). Light malty base (biscuity). Hop dominant. Citrus bitter hoppy throughout. Very dry bitter hoppy finish. Lovely stuff. Terrific IPA! (2010-08)

On draft, was really disappointed. Looks good, aroma and taste was soapy, finished musty. Not good.

660ml bottle from Rehills, Newcastle. 660ml bottle. Hazy red-amber coloured with a thick head of white foam. It has a spicy tropical fruit, orange marmalade and pine flavour followed by a smooth, creamy peppery hop and fruity finish. Excellent!
