Commercial Description:
Corruption, Greed, and Lust. They're all represented on the hooks of today. Tomorrow, they'll be stinging Gluttony, Desire, and Sloth. Go ahead. Tell yourself you're better than all of them. But you can't. Hell can be funny like that. Down here it's all just sin. Everyone here is screwed just like you. They don't care who you sliced, diced, or cheated. No on is escaping this heinous place. Your roommate is an ax murderer. Eerily, he's not threatening. How can he be? Here, the Fallen Angel owns your body, mind and soul. As such, no one can take your life. It's already been taken. Or was it given? Neither matters. Did you seriously think you were living a virtuous life. At least Satan serves beer in Hell. He brews it himself right there in that flame stoked cauldron. Rumor has it the beer is straw yellow, bone dry and simply labeled Inferno.

Bottled. Disappointing pour when they go and compare this to Duvel, as the head only appears when you glug the thing out at a near vertical orientation. The last remnants of foam do stick around nearly permanently though. This beer is loaded with big, boozy, belgian malts, both in the flavor and the aroma, and is dominated by a brazen yeastiness and mild euro hop. At once easy and difficult to drink, there is a great, full body on this beer, with a short, clean, easy finish. Light florals come out with smaller sips while larger chugs just lead to a big, brutish body. This beer could be beer-bonged, though the bonger would regret it. Fittingly for a beer so confused, I both like it and hate it.

Another bottle shared by JCB. Thanks Jason. Poured a golden orange with a small white head and lace. Aroma is sweet and bready, some yeasty and a bit of alcohol warmth. Flavor is similar, sweet bready malts, a bit of hotness, more yeast. Solid belgian golden, very reminiscent of Duvel which is what I hear Tomme was going for. Well done.

Pours clear, pale gold, with a one inch head of white fluff. Retention is moderate, and the foam cap sinks slowly to a solid skim coat, leaving behind spongy lacework. Aromatics are slightly spicy, grassy, and earthy. Hints of white pepper, cloves, lemon zest, and flaked corn. Light to medium bodied, crisp and effervescent. A quite lively mouthfeel. Light malt, peppery spice, and clovey phenols lead off the pallet. Warming alcohol, earthy overtones, and hints of grapefruit, lemon and wet hay follow through. Finishes fairly dry and quickly, with warming alcohol and peppery spice. Another solid offering from Tommee, but coming up short at $14 per bottle.

Pours deep slightly hazy gold with white head. The mild aroma is sweet sugary malts, grain like malts, a bit of hay, bitter sourness and more malt sweetness. The taste begins sweet with sugar malt sweetness, crisp grains and hops to go along with a growing tartness. The tartness becomes mildly sour fruit and grows to midway and carries right into the finish. Smooth brew that begins sweet and malty then has that palate refreshing tartness into the finish

0.75 l bottle at Konttori, Tampere. Hazy golden color with creamy head. Apple, herbal hops, clove, pepper and hint of solvent in the aroma. Sweetish spicy flavor with clove, pepper and apple. Smooth mouthfeel. Fairly complex and smooth but slightly too appley.

Lost Abbey labels are really nice and the artwork on this is no exception. I heard this was similar to Duvel which I had for the first time two weeks ago. This is a nice golden straw color as the label states. The smell is very hard for me to describe but it is nice. This is easy to drink and I can see some similarities to Duvel but I think I like this better because it seems less carbonated. The only thing I don’t like about this beer is the price. This seems more like an $8 beer (Red Barn and such) than an $11 beer. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 06-27-2008 03:35:59
