New bottle from re-release. Pale American with lots of carbonation. Slight metallic taste with corn, pale and weak.

12oz can. Doesn’t deserve a pour, but I can see the standard American Pale Lager yellow down in the can. Smells like corn and metal. Tastes like malt liquor. Very carbonated. In my quest to taste as much cheap beer as possible (minus Bud and Coors), this one isn’t all THAT bad, but the taste could use some improvement.

Supposedly, Schlitz is now brewed again from the 1950s recipe or a close facsimile. The truth is, it’s drinkable. Is it great? Nah -- it still has that aluminum-corn chip taste of an adjunct beer, but it manages to at least taste somewhat fresh and have some life to its carbonation and mouthfeel. But you get what you pay for, and Schlitz is a cheap, decent beer. If you normally drink Bud Light or Miller Lite, try it as an improvement. If you normally drink, say, Bitburger, you’ll be disappointed.

From a can, Pale Yellow pour with a sizable offwhite head. Aroma is light macro grain. No suprises here, Flavor is light, moderately refreshing, overly sweet and grainy lager. Blech

10/30/2009: Schlitz... Aroma: Appearance: Sparkling, extremely pale yellow color; high level of carbonation; white crown. Flavor: Delicately sweet, grainy, white corn chips, a bit of a grassy bite in the slightly dry finish. Palate: Very light; highly carbonated; refreshing. Overall: Not horrible, not that good either though...

12 fl. oz. bottle ( DEC2809 F01200015 ) from The Party Source in Bellevue, Kentucky. Rating #464 for this beer.

Overall...drinkable. I can’t slam it because it is a macro. It holds up well to other macros and is actually drinkable.
