Draft at New Belgium. Clear medium dark red/purple colored body with a white head. Good lacing. Flavor is aged and mild dried plum slices, some doughy, dry hops, a small bite that builds over time, noticed most in mid-palate... but there’s just this terrible manure smell that is wafting out of the glass, very earthy, heavy with soil and manure, difficult to get past. Flavor is cracker barley grains and mild, dried plums and apricots. Thankfully not sweet, but the smell ruins what would have otherwise been a decent beer.

Bottle:   Amber in color, pale reddish hue, fairly clear, moderate off-white foamy head, spotty lacing.   Aroma of squash and over ripened cherries.   Has a spiciness to it that reminds me of a broken down Pumpkin beer.   Malty on the tongue, some cereal like presense.   Tiz spicy, much like a Pumpkin beer in June.   Has a very soft sour or tart tinge on the backside.   A little old and stale Cherry cough syrup like tinge.   Moderate body and mouthfeel.   On the backside its just like your average crappy fruit beer, uninteresting and quite artificial.   I had high hopes for this one, but they were dashed pretty quickly.   Thank god New Belgium can at least do decent sour beers.

12 oz bottle, best by 10/31/08. Pours golden red with a fizzy white head that retains well and laces the glass.

The aroma is biscuity malts, some cherries and a little vegetables. Smells like Fat Tire with cherries.

The flavor is sweet cherries over biscuity malts with a little metallic note. The mouthfeel is medium with smooth carbonation.

Overall, seems a lot like a Fat Tire recipe with cherries added. I just had a Fat Tire and really don’t like the biscuit notes which I see here as well. The cherries do make it somewhat better though. Having to buy a 12 pack to sample this is not cool.

12oz bottle(courtesy of RSRIZZO)-Pours a clear amber body with a nice slightly off white head and an aroma of cherry, malt, and breadiness. Taste of cheries, malt, sourness, and slight sourness. This medium bodied brew finsihes with a little tartness. Not a bad fruit beer but New Belgium can do better.

Aroma is a mild malt scent with a hint of fruit. Color is a bright amber with good carbonation and a thin head. Taste is light and malty. Starting with a light/medium body it goes down easy. Finish is a mild malt flavor with a very faint hint of fruit and slight tartness. After taste is dry and clean. Its a nice easy drinking brew that is good on a summer day, but it just doesn’t have much going on.

Not a fan. Weird color on the pour. Reddish amber with a small foamy off white head. Nose is medicinal, cherries, and wood. Taste for some reason remindes me of strawberry nesquick which I hate. I pretty much could not get past that. Medium mouthfeel, short finish.

Bottle from Folly pack. New Glarus Belgian Red is my fruit beer reference and this one comes up a little short. Basically tasted like someone added a little cherry extract to a Fat Tier. Do all their beers have that same nutty, bready flavor? Not that impressed.
