Old Brewery Bitter served out of oak casks @ Cittie of York
Beautiful Amber/orange-copper color with a thick off-white head, lovely malty aroma of caramel & biscuit with mild oak notes. Smooth as silk and the taste is oak, caramel, tabacco, citrusy orange - seriously delicious. Wonderfully complex 4% beer. Best bitter I’ve ever head.

Cask at the angel. Light hazed orange amber coloured pour with a lasting creamy off white head. Aroma is slightly off, tart apple, toffee and and caramel. Flavour is composed of nutty, caramel malts, bit of wood varnish, vanilla. Little toffee apple. Palate is medium sweet, moderate carbonation. Little grainy. Decent enough, maybe not in the best shape.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Cask at Colpitts Hotel, Durham, England. Excellent value at £1.80 reflects Sam Smith’s ethos.
Looks great after clearing, (slightly too) thick creamy head gives way to very easy drinking body. Early bitterness counterpointed by sweet aftertaste with smoky toffee notes. Very smooth mouthfeel. A very decent session ale.
