COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle: Filtered.
Marketed in the United States as Olde Suffolk.
dark ale
A blend of two ales: Old 5X , which is brewed to the maximum strength possible (around 12% abv) and left to mature in 100-barrel oak vats for a minimum of two years, and BPA, a dark, full-bodied freshly brewed beer which is added just before bottling. The result is a unique beer - strong (6% abv), dark, fruity, oaky and very, very special.
Bottles have been sterile filtered since May 2006.

Dunkelrot braun, fast wie Cola. Schnell zerfallender Schaum. Aroma ist vielversprechend: Karamell, Holz, Butteraroma. Geschmack: Malzig süß, karamell, etwas getrocknete Früchte, Sherry. Abgerundet durch eine leichte Bitternote. Tolles Bier!

Some oak and a light caramel toffee aroma. Dark maroon pour with OK head. Bitter and sweet and light sour finish. Not super interesting. Bottle.

Bottle 0.5L. Slightly hazy, brown body with reddish nuances; Average, frothy, tan head, mostly diminishing with some lacing though. Moderate malty (roasted, caramel) aroma with notes of red fruits, raisin, light chocolate and nuts. Moderate-to-heavy sweet flavour with a moderate bitterness, more evident in the long-lasting finish (nuts?). Medium-to-full body with oily-to-creamy texture; soft carbonation.

Deep red-brown color beer with a white head that does not last much. Aroma includes caramel, roasted malt, wood and some light fruit notes. Flavor is sweet with some bitterness and alcohol reminders. Body is medium and carbonation is low. Dry, crispy and long end.

Caramel aroma, with strong wooden notes. Beer is clear, dark brown, with nice head. In taste it’s not that caramel as it is in aroma, but still a bit. Except that there are a wooden notes, a bit of bitterness. It’s very well carbonated, the mouth feel is really great. It’s a very good beer!

Aroma: ridiculous amount of diacetyl, roasted malts, iron, alcohol. Appearance: clear copper color, almost no head. Taste: iron, sweet, caramel, diacetyl, alcohol. Palate: medium body and medium carbonation, butter. Overall: Politely speaking it’s a shit.
