There are some ruby-ish highlights, and there’s a head that towers over the beer, rocky and tan. Almost vacant nose, maybe a bit of malt sweet in there. Nice mild roast and a wee smidge of chocolate in there. A little bit of puckery soapiness on the finish; not bad for a high-volume brewery, though. Nice beer. maniac (2875), Richmond, Virginia, USA

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Sep 16, 2006 If you’ve had the Black & Tan you know what this taste like being 60% of it is in the B&T. A BMC’s version of a porter so you know it’s going to be weaker, thinner, and less flavorful than a lot of porters you’ve had. But it does make it a very easy drinking beer that does have some flavor to it and is something you could drink like a pale lager on a hot summer day in the yard. Slight roasted and crystal malts, some chocolate, little hop bite, not bad. whaleman (2172), North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Sep 13, 2006 Looks like a soda with its dark caramel-brown body and fast receding sudsy, light tan head. Aroma of prominent coffee, light anise, dark chocolate, and sweet malt syrup. Flavor of dark syrupy malt with a lingering, somewhat cloying sweetness. Full-flavored with some redeeming qualities, but overall this is not very appealing. sammarsh13 (6), USA does not count | 5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 20/20 | Sep 4, 2006 A really good beer from around the way. though keep in mind that even though this is at the top of the yuengling list, it’s near the bottom of the porter list. LagerHogger (12), USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 1, 2006 Yuengling Porter pours a dark brown with a fairly thick head with a lovely lace. The aroma reminds me a bit of coffee, with hints of toffee and chocolate. The flavor is somewhat sweet and malty, with a light hoppy finish. Overall, Yuengling Porter is a tastey brew and happens to now be one of my favorite offerings from the company.
