Commercial Description:
Rare Vos is flemmish for "Sly Fox," and the name of one of Brussels’ great cafes. It has a sweetly fruity malt character and yeasty spiciness. A fine dose of yeast permits the beer to mature and mellow in the bottle.

12 oz Bottle. Pours a nice dark yellow with a hint of copper. nice thick head which does really enhance the aromas. Lots of yeast, great example of typical belgian style. really great mouthfeel, light but not weak, full of flavor but not too thick.

12oz bottle from Market Square. Murky gold pour with a sizable head and sparse lacing Warm pleasant smells of tropical fruit and bread. Clean sweet malt taste with cherry banana, spice, earth and caramel. Texture is light with low carbonation. Finishes up a sharp floral sour bitter.

Bottle poured into a snifter produced a two finger white billowy head that turned into a nice lace. The body of the brew was a clear amber in color. I got a big hit of Belgian yeast as I held the glass to my lips along with some clove thrown in for good luck. The flavor was rather pleasant slightly sweet fruity malts with enough hop bitters to make it really easy to drink. It had a medium to light feel in the mouth with good carbonation for me It is a good brew easy to drink flavorful and it goes down smooth. I would buy it again without hesitation

Special tapped brew of the day at John’s Buffet in Winfield, IL. Served to a shaker an orangy amber, with an average, off white head, and clingy, web-like lacing. The aroma started out with a hint of yeast, then, a light biscuitly nature, spice, and light fruit sweetness. Less the yeast, the flavor followed similarly, adding some smooth malt to the tongue, light+ body, and lively carbonation. Nicely flavorful, and nicely priced for the evening

Very good beer, surprised I hadn’t heard of it before. Light, somewhat fruity taste, complex, not overpowering, goes well with food.

(Bottle, Bishop’s Arms, Vasagatan, Stockholm, 20 Jan 2010) Amber colour with frothy, off-white head, leaving traces of lacing. Fruity, malty nose with notes of apricots and orange peel. Fruity, slightly malty taste with apricots, orange, crystal malt and a touch of winegum and black-currant in a hoppy finish. Medium body, just a touch of sweetness. Well balanced and tasty, possibly lacking some extra bite.

12 oz. bottle from Mac’s on West Peachtree. Looks like a nice Belgian. Nice thin head sitting on top of a LIGHT brown/dark orange translucent body. Dark fruits are popping out at my nose. Raisins, light grape, and a subtle fig aroma are all noticeable, and make a very pleasant aroma. There also seems to be a light honey aroma, along with the yeast to round it out. Nice nuanced aroma that bodes well for this brew. Very smooth texture. The flavor does not follow the aroma as nicely as I thought it would. The flavor is a bit short-lived. Flavors disappear quickly. There is a slight grape flavor, along with some yeast, but the flavors aren’t popping out at me much. A nice Belgian Ale, but I was expecting more in terms of flavor.
