I was afraid this was not going to be good, some people with similar tastes were not impressed. I saved this for near the end of the fest. I was happy this was good. Aroma is actually rather strong for the style. Its very wheat thats a bit spicy. Lots of light tart and very lemony aspects coming through. Taste has a good amount of tart for the style, very clean and very crisp. Nice stuff. 8/3/8/3/16
re-rate: out of bottle. Oh so nice, there is a lot more dryness to it then I remember and the tartness of the beer is so beautifully wrapped around the other quaffable elements. Feels nice on the back of the throat with that dry light tartness. 8/3/8/4/17 Headbanger (1646), Aurora, Illinois, USA

Aroma of citrus and yeast. Taste is of tartness, yeast ,and sourness. This light to medium bodied brew has a carbonation like champagne and is different but still worth a try. The only other time I have had this style is with syrup. hellbilly (1643), scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 9, 2008 bottle by way way of iowaherkeye... pours a slightly hazy golden yellow color topped by a short lived soft white head. pale malty aroma with notes of light yeast, green apple tartness and musty minerals akin to a cement lined basement (i assume this is the wheat?). the flavor has a sourness that reminds me of a mix of pippin apples and sour green grapes... mixed with musty wheat, cooked and muted citrus skins, herbs/grassiness and minerals with a dry tart finish. there’s a bit of milk and milky phlegm in the throat during the aftertaste. medium body with a prickly carbonated mouth feel... refreshing when it’s cold. meh when warm.... Aroma of faint sourness. Flavor is tart, sweet, and sour. Lots of grapes make this rather champagne-like (but fruitier). Initial spritzy carbonation, wheat finish. Delicate mouthfeel and sour. Very tasty. 17thfloor (1638), Chicago, Illinois, USA

Lightly tart acidic aroma. Very dry and acidic flavor, slightly tart. Very tasty and pretty easy drinking for the acidity. Very crisp carbonation. TURDFERGUSON (1633), Carrboro, North Carolina, USA

Pour is golden orange with a small a very small white head and whispy lace that isn’t very stable. Nose of white grapes, granny smith apples, earth, wheat. Much more subdued and less pungent than I expected. Flavor begins very smooth and slightly sweet with more apple and grape and finishes with a zesty and tart lemon-lime spritziness. An easy drinking berliner and a very approachable beer for the style. nickd717 (1630), Palo Alto, California, USA

Pours a mostly clear golden-yellow color with a two-finger mildly fizzy white head. Aroma is wheaty and funky with some citric tartness. Very tart flavor with wheat, yeasty funk, lemon, and white grapes. Fairly light-bodied and acidic on the palate. Refreshing and drinkable. Overall a nice example of the style. esjaygee (1629), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Oct 25, 2008 My first tussle with a New Glarus unplugged. Speaking of tussles, the large head lost out on the battle as it quickly faded into the mildly hazy yellow substance below. My nose wonders if this is a wine or a beer, as it smells a bit like Riesling with the sourness you’d expect from a Berliner Weisse with some yeast and wood tossed in. The beer itself is reminiscent of a wine as well with tannins and dryness along with sourness and tartness. This one was sans syrup and perhaps it could use a little as it was kind of redundant after a few sips. Okay, perhaps I’ll have the next one with a little syrup.
