Too bad I had to drink it out of a plastic cup. I’ll get more soon. It might be my favorite of the English pales. jcc83 (137), Athens, Georgia, USA

Sweet malty caramel aroma foreshadows rich malty flavors of caramel, nuttiness, and a nice toasted character. Hoppiness is fairly light, but nicely manifested in the slightly biting finish. Good mouthfeel. An all-around great beer, refreshing but with plenty of substance and character. Wheatsheaf (104), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Apr 1, 2004 Bottle. A copper ale with an earthy hop and malt aroma. Some caramel makes an appearance up front before becoming increasingly dry and minerally. A crisp, biscuity maltiness and moderate hop bitterness lead into the dry finish. A solid, flavourful, English pale ale (which is what you would expect from this brewery). If you can get a bottle that hasn’t been in the light, great; if you can get a fresh bottle, even better. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 17, 2005 This beer pours out looking very nice; great amber hue. The aroma is predominatly malts w/ some hops in there. The taste is more balanced, and close to being perfectly so. The Golding and Fuggles hops bite nice, but don’t stick around too long. Regardless, very enjoyable and a little under-rated. RCL (1581), Waltham, Massachusetts, USA

It’s just a beer. A well made, pleasant to drink beer that won’t tax your brain or palate and goes nice with fish and chips. Damn tasty, and you could drink a boat of it. thornecb (1915), Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA
