bottle-sampled fresh and about 2 months ago. pours black as oil with a nice tan head. huge chocolate nose fresh, but as it aged, it became a bit more woody, with touch of rasin, anise and baking chocolate. the bitter chocolate covers the alcohol nicely here-better than most stone beers in those terms. flavors are roasty, chocolate and a touch of dark fruits. long chocolate finish. rich, dangerous and oh so good! one of the better aniversary beers that stone has ever released. It held up nicely 1 1/2 yrs later as well. Im sure bottles are still tasting good.

BLACK BEER WITH DARK BROWN HEAD AND A LIGHT AROMA OF FERMENTED DARK FRUITS, KINDA PRUNE LIKE. RICH THICK AND BITTER BURNT COFFEE FLAVOR WITH A SLIGHT HINT OF UNSWEETEND CHOCOLATE. THE ONLY THING I DONT LIKE ABOUT IT IS THERE SEEMS TO BE A METALIC FLAVOR AT THE FRONT NOTES, NOT MUCH BUT ENOUGH MENTION , OVER ALL A VERY FILLING YET EASY TO DRINK BEER. CANT TASTE ANY OATMEAL HERE MORE OF A COFFEE STOUT TO ME. STILL GOOD REGARDLESS YET NOT GREAT.

This was great. It was very thick and poured like motor oil with a thick dark tan head. Smelled and tasted like the name suggests--bitter dark chocolate. This well-put-together imperial stout got better with every sip.

One of my favorites from Stone. Solid black with a nice head. Huge nose of coffee, chocolates, burnt malts, dense. Taste is the same and is very smooth on the palate. Full of flavor and easy to drink.

Bottle sample at a tasting. Thanks Shachar. Black-colored with a light brown foam. Aroma of dark bitter chocolate, roasted malt, dark fruits, a bit of smoky hints and a bit of alcohol. A bittersweet flavor with chocolate, malt, light fruitiness, nutty hints and a drier finish with more bitterness. Rather full-bodied. A good Stout.

Bottle. Pour is almost black with a thin tan head. Aromais quite nice roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, light oxidation, and wood. Flavor is true to nose and holds up quite well with little evidence of oxidation. This is potent and good.

At a tasting, many thanks Shachar, small brown head, opaque dark brown colour, aromas of cocoa, spice, hint of vanila pod and smoke at the begginning that dissapears over time, flavour of charred wood, coffee, smoked meat and dark chocolate, all over a cereal backbone, extremely smooth, long sour coffee aftertaste, a bit like after an espresso, nicely balanced.
