Better from the cask, the warmer temperature brings out the flavors better.Think, opaque brown body with a slight tan head. Hoppy aroma with citrus and berrey coming through in the flavor along with a bit of bitterness in the taste and aftertaste.
1/28/08 2 year old bottle I bought the day of the original rating 2/28/06 Nose is chcolate, light boisenberry, and caramel, No hops! Very dark brown but transparent body with a beautiful, one finger cinnamon tan head; flavor is boisenberries, a light coffee note, and bittersweet chocolate. No hop finish this time! I guess two years took care of the hops! 8/5/9/4/17 still 4.3.

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 20, 2010 22oz bottle from CBX. Pours a deep dark black with inch or so tan head. Has a sweet, almost chocolate aroma. Taste is also a bit sweet. It has a somewhat mild taste, but in a good way. There is nothing overpowering as is the case with many imperial stouts I’ve had. Slight hint of coffee grounds, but more of a sweet, malty taste. Low carbonation so it goes down very smooth. This is an all around solid beer I could drink on a daily basis and not get tired of. Many imperial stouts I’ve tried would be to rich tasting for me to have that often. foosnbrews (54), Parker, Colorado, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 17, 2010 Beer poors black with dark head that dissapates quickly. Aroma has a deep roasty smell with evidence of hops and alchol. Bitterness comes through in the flavor from both the roasted malts which also hides a hop back bone. Palate is dry and quick to fade away leaving me to want more. Overall the beer is a nice stout and one which I would enjoy a couple of pint of. Sammer (130), Plano, Texas, USA

Brown sugar, sweet spice and licorice taste. Well balanced, smooth finish and not harsh. Just excellent!! Maddog (281), Kettering, Ohio, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Feb 23, 2010 If I rate this as an Imperial Stout, then we all will be disappointed. This is not in the class of the bigger Imperials i.e. Old Rasputin, Black Out, et. al., but tasty nonetheless. The pour obviously is opaque and the aroma is that of roasted malts. The flavors are typical....roasted malts, some hints of coffee and cocoa. A tasty stout, but an Imperial..... I don’t think so. mcberko (321), British Columbia, Canada

Big aroma of chocolate, sweet molasses and brown sugar. Flavour of caramel malt and espresso, with a pleasantly bitter aftertaste. Wonderful stout. Stuedmaster (20), San Diego, California, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 21, 2010 22 oz. bomber. Very nice appearance, beautiful tan head with nice lacing, jet black as advertised, aroma of English hops, caramel, and roasted grain. Very mellow for 8.1% abv., tastes of coffee and rich caramel, with a chocolate, resinous finish. A really solid Imperial Stout, a great beer for the price. Pastor (566), Maine, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Feb 20, 2010 poured it into tulip glasses split three ways. The brew produced a good tan head that trailed off to a light lace on top of a typical stout black body.
The aroma of hops was the first thing I noticed about this brew. Yes it from the west coast. It sort of reminded me of a great Divide is a lot of ways in the flavor department .It had a medium feel in my mouth with good carbonation. A easy drinking stout not bad at all and for the price a good beer.

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 13, 2010 Black pour with some light getting through on the edges, tan head with good retention and attractive lacing. Not the in your face aroma that I expected - some smoke, a pinch of dark chocolate and that’s about it. Starts off with a small amount of carbonation and malt sweetness which slowly creeps along towards a slightly sour & bitter finish. You’ll find the aroma elements mirror flavors on the palate. Medium body, moderate carbonation, minimal alcohol warmth. Nice Imperial Stout, not as complete as a Great Divide Yeti or Oskar Blues Ten Fidy, but nice.
