Commercial Description:
This is pure hop bliss brewed with insane quantities of west coast hops! Every sip of this beer is akin to diving into a truck load of freshly picked hops, directly before the hefty kick of alcohol begins to numb your brain. Big, bold and sticky! 8.2% ABV. 100+ IBU’s.

Opening the bottle is much like tearing open a packet of fresh C-hops. The most intense hop aroma I have ever smelled in a fluid - citric, fruity, cut grass, resiny, floral notes. Incredible. I could wear this as a cologne. It’s a hazy golden colour. The flavour is (surprise) dominated by hops. Bitterness seemed surprisingly well integrated (considering that this beer certainly achieved the theoretical maximum bitterness). Not to say that there’s balance - The malt is hardly noticeable in all that. Despite the commercial description as "sticky", this is not underattenuated (like many IIPAs). Shockingly drinkable considering the 256 theoretical IBU. Honestly, this beer is worth going to Moncton for, and if you’ve ever been to Moncton you’ll understand how much that says.

Bottle [12oz] courtesy of GregClow. Unlabelled bottle but Greg said it was an IPA and the cap says "DEM" on it, I’m going to guess that’s for "Dementia", so I’m assuming it’s this beer. Pours a hazy copper-gold with a small diminishing white head. Great aroma, lots and lots of resiny hops -- a medley of hops really -- not much else there but who cares, this smells awesome. Flavour, like the aroma, is just a medley of hops in your mouth, it’s big and bold yet also refreshing. A bit of alcohol there but it’s pretty well hidden for 8.2%. Long bitter finish. Medium bodied. This was very, very hoppy (and I loved it) leading me to believe that this was indeed the right beer. One-dimensional perhaps? Probably, but this hophead says bring it on, this is how I like my DIPAs. Now if only we could buy this regularly in Ontario...

Sampled August 12, 2008. Golden colour with a mostly diminishing frothy off-white head. Aroma is that of smelling a big bag full of cascades ad amarillo hops - a touch grassy but otherwise big, juicy, fruity, lightly peachy, and citrusy hops. Toasty and crisp malts, just enough for some backbone, quickly yield to a long, lingering grapefruit, pithy, orange, tnagerine, grassy, lightly herbal, and resinous bitter finish. Medium bodied, juicy, lightly rough mouthfeel. Honestly one of the best IIPAs I’ve had - just an overwhelming amount of hops yet never seeming out of balance - in the way that some talk about the best IIPAs having balance between bittering and flavour hops. Fantastic stuff.

Bottle courtesy of pubstyle - thanks, Troy. Hazy dark golden with a small, lacy white head. Aroma - sweet sassy molassy, that’s HOPPY! Seriously, this is one of the hoppiest smelling beers I’ve ever come across. Big notes of citrus, pine, spruce, pot - crazy! Flavour is SLIGHTLY more subdued, but still pretty powerful. And as GreenWall notes below, while there is a sticky character to the body, it’s also surprisingly crisp, especially in the finish, making it remarkably refreshing. Quite possibly the best thing to have ever come out of Moncton, NB.
