Commercial Description:
Russian Imperial Stout: Imperial Stouts derive their name from the Imperial court of Katherine the Great who commissioned this beer style to be brewed by Thrale’s brewery in London, England for export to Russia. Our Imperial Stout lives up to that, and then some; with copious amounts of dark roasted malts that translate into a wonderfully rich and complex beer with notes of ripe dark fruit, black currant, cocoa, and black licorice. Enjoy a snifter of this luxurious beverage after dinner with a fine cigar or your favorite chocolate dessert. If you’re feeling adventurous, try it with a nice wedge of your stinkiest blue cheese and a plate of fresh raw oysters, you won’t be disappointed. Approximately 9.5% ABV.

Draft. Blackish beer with a tan head. Malty, chocolate, light licorice aroma. Chocolate, malt flavor with light roastiness. Medium-plus bodied. Light roast lingers with caramel malt and coffee.

Shared by Tertons. Thanks Nelson. Not much going here. Mild roastiness was really all i got out of this one. It was only ok.

Hand bottle from pepsican via iowaherkeye. Thanks fellas. Poured an opaque black color. The head was soapy and brown. Smelled of chocolate, oats, brown sugar, toffee, and fruit liqueur. Full bodied and semi-sweet with a smooth mouth feel. The sugars were mitigated somewhat by mild bitterness imparted by the roasty malt. There was some raw alcohol flavor, ala chocolate liqueur, supported by dark fruit, subdued anise, coffee, and a bit of mango. I also thought there was a decent amount of citrus in the background. As with most RIP’s, better when at cellar temperature or warmer.

Bottle brought and shared by DSG at the Pizza Port Bottle Shop. I believe he was visiting the States from Israel for a few weeks. Thanks! Tasted with wetherel and others. Pitch black with a small maroon ring. Heavy nose of oatmeal chocolate, pancake batter and some charred wood. I remember describing the aroma as "thick." Smooth chocolate and roasted malt flavor with a touch of currant and caramelized brown sugar. Very drinkable, with a chewy palate.

Nice blend of dark malts with great body and color. Nice burnt/roasty flavor, but not over the top. A great brew.
