Bottle: Poured a golden slightly hazy color ale with a good size head with good retention and minimal lacing. Aroma consists of lightly funky ester with some noticeable malt backbone. Taste is also a mix between some funky ester with some noticeable Belgian style malt. Full body with some good carbonation but unfortunately lacking some hops and character to be truly inspiring.

Jun 2, 2009 Bouteille 341ml. De couleur dorée-orange et voilée. Nez de levures fruitées (agrumes, notes de pêche, traces de pommes), de malt pâle avec des notes de céréales, légèrement épicé (poivre doux) et avec des notes de houblon floral. Moyenne-mince en bouche avec un pétillement moyen et une texture légèrement crémeuse. Goût de levures fruitées sauvages (agrumes, notes de pêche, traces de pommes rouges) aux faibles notes boisées (bois humide) lors de l’entrée en bouche auquel se rajoute un moyen goût de malt pâle avec des notes de céréales et de pain frais puis en fianle l’on retrouve une très légère amertume de houblon herbeux (herbes mouillées, petites notes florales et terreuses) ainsi qu’un léger goût de levures épicées (poivre doux) asséchantes. Post-goût moyen et aux notes séches, légèrement amer de houblon herbeux avec un goût de levures fruitées (zest d’agrumes, notes de noyau de pêche)

Hazy gold, foamy white head. Tripel-like nose nose of grassy citrus, yeast, and bubble gum, also some minor grainy swill notes. Flavor is rather laid back but has a ton of yeast, more citrus, maybe some pepper. Thin palate, short fruity finish. Very drinkable but also pretty bland. This is more of a tripel and there is no wild saison element.

Apr 13, 2009 Pours a cloudy yellow color with a thin white head. The aroma has yeast. fruits and mild pepper. The flavor is ok, it has yeast, pepper and fruits, I don’t notice anything funky, which would have added something to this beer. The body is light to medium with a creamy texture and moderate carbonation. Not bad, a really decent effort from a brewery I usually dislike.

Mar 29, 2009 Updated: May 30, 2009Very good saison to me, and I might be negatively biaised towards this brewer. Both fruity (lemon), delicately and appropriately spiced for the style, as it is also pleasantly bitter and fruity again in the finish. One of my favorites from them.

Mar 15, 2009 Bottle in Montreal. CLoudy dark yellow. Strong spice scent. Flavour is lemon, moderate funk and dusty spice.

Jan 7, 2009 Bottle bought in Montreal. Great pour, lovely fluffy head, nice and unfiltered. Aroma is lemony, tropical fruits, a bit vegetal and yeasty with a bit of skunky character. Mostly dry flavor, some earthy malts, salt, fairly mild overall without much fruit character. Easy drinking with a tight carbonation. Better than the ratings reveal for sure. Not a bad effort at all.

Dec 6, 2008 Bottle, which says, “made exclusively for Depanneur le Gourmet” on label. Pours gold with a frothy head. Aroma is funky farmhouse, slightly sour, grainy, and tart fruit. Flavor is surprisingly sweet and mellow, considering the nose. I tasted far more mellow fruit, yeast, and bread than I would have expected. Yet, how much credit can I really allot to a Saison that simply fails to stand out? Overall, I didn’t care for the murkiness of this brew, and found myself more concerned with finishing my glass than enjoying the beer.
