COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Okay, this one isn’t for everybody – yet. Over the years we’ve been asked to brew a year-round IPA, but have balked at the idea because of the flood of American IPAs currently on the market. If we couldn’t make an IPA that was different what was available, that we personally liked to drink, and one that we could put our personal signature on and be proud of, we didn’t want to do it. So, last fall we brewed a single batch IPA on our new brewhouse and sent it out to 5 different markets around the country to test the response. Which turned out to be pretty positive. So, here we are in 2009, and we’re back playing again with a few new test batches that we’re sampling here in Colorado and a few select markets around the country. What’s in a name, you ask? Well, back in February of 2007, there was an article in there titled ‘Extremely Boring’. Go back and find that issue, and that specific article, and you’ll see why we named the beer 400 Pound Monkey. Happy sleuthing!

355ml bottle in 2015. Clear deep golden, with a thin white head. Aroma of U.S. Malt, barley sugar, and grassy hops. Cream soda flavour, with hay, and biscuity malt. Finish was Popcorn, grain, and grapes.

UPDATED: JUN 3, 2019 Bottle, copper golden with medium head. Thin bodied. Notes are dead hops, pine, ash, grape lolly, and metal. Another weak offering from Left Hand but they've always been shelf turds in NJ

A good, smooth, refreshing IPA. Seems a bit towards the Pale Ale side as it's not super hoppy. The flavor is tasty and balanced nicely, but doesn't linger for that long like some of the better IPAs out there. So now I am thinking that this beer is a little watery, so would be better as a daytime, beachtime, decent quality lawnmower beer, etc. I've always liked Lefthand's brews, but this may not be one of their best.

Loved it! Very bready/malty. Heavier mouth feel but so smooth. In short, fantastic balance. Reviewed - A Brew With You, Ep. 22

Appearance is mediocre, aroma very malty. Taste is bitter, lacks character. Mediocre at best.

Hazed golden color with a smallish, but stable off-white head. Light citrus and yeast aromas. Hints of sweet wheat and malt. Fairly dry from the start. Mild grapefruit zest hops lead the way and charge to the finish. Some spiciness, but not a clean, clear zip, but a mix of old spices. Some woody malt in the linger. I done know if this one survived the voyage. 6/10

Nice mouthfeel because bottle carbonated. Head dissolved fast. Great hop aroma. Bread like malt with caramel have the malt of and English style, then gives way to strong citrus hops. Lemon, grapefruit, a touch orange, grass, a touch pungent finish. A bit sticky but with lighter body. English style up front but finishes bitter and a touch acidic and spicy to me. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bright green nose when pouring then disappears. Darker yellow pour. Bitter and dull, toasted malts with the hoppy bitterness
