It pours a clear dark orange, with a creamy off white head. Sweet, zesty, citrusy aroma with a particularly orangy hint. Orange peel bitterness comes through in the aftertaste and, guess what, orange comes through up front as well! Pretty average for a premium bitter.

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 14, 2010 Light brown bitter. Malty beer smell. Tangy malt, pulpy soft mouth feel. Low hopping. Short lived tangy finish. This is an old fashioned brown drinking bitter. Wish there were more beers out there like this. Makes a huge change from the usual offerings in pubs these days of over hopped low abv bitters, over hopped IPAs and the those daft imperial IPAs. Give me a brown bitter any day. wheresthepath (591), Buckinghamshire, England

Light to moderate fizz. Sweet malts with lemony biscuits. Nothing bad to report - it’s inoffensive and rather dull.

| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jan 3, 2010 Bottle. Pours a mid brown colour with a very thin white head. The aroma is of carmel and some grassy hops, the taste is of medium sweetness, with a dry bitter finish. DruncanVeasey (2969), The Penguin’s Arms, Europe, Warwickshire, England
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 8, 2009 4.5%. A rate from Morrisons at last. Thought it would never happen. Slick of white over iced tea amber. Damp sesame, splash of underlying coffee, hop oil, berry fruit, traces of marzipan aroma. Quite a lot of soggy paper and chlorine I’m afraid, redeemed by fig, chocolate, pear and caramel. Extensive soggy biscuit and unbaked dough afters like Badger. Quite a pleasant pasteurised bitter. berkshirejohn (1943), Bracknell, Berkshire, England
| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Sep 6, 2009 50cl bottle from Morrisons. Gold with a loose white head; skany malt aroma; burnt malt flavour; unpleasantly bitter finish. Yuck. Quack-Duck (3535), Bodensee/Schwarzwald, Germany

Amber-golden colour with an orange glow, mid-sized off-white head. Medium- to full-bodied, solid malty background with lovely bitter and aromatic hops and a shy citrusy and resiny character weaselkenievil (739), Cheshire, England
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Aug 24, 2009 One of those rates where my good mood may have clouded my rate. I was watching Dan Hardy beat Marcus Davis. Get in. Orange / Amber with a medium white head, good lacing. Citrus, quite malty, bitter finish. Quite enjoyed this, solid bitter.
