The beer in the glass is okay, huge head. Starts dry and woody and shows very hoppy-flowery and fresh notes. Finish is still dry but also well balanced. Another great IPA from Mikkeller. plovmand (2011), Hillerød, Denmark
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 17, 2008 Draught at EBF. Poured clear golden amber with a creamy head. Grassy aroma with flowery and fruity notes. Smooth and creamy mouthfeel. Hoppy flavour with exotic fruity notes like peach and apricot. The typical Simcoe notes. A great balanced beer with a good malt base to pair up the hops. MIBRomeo (1990), Wisconsin, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 4, 2009 murky brew lots of sediment and active carbonation an almost wheat color w/ a hint of red and a huge frothy well laced head. Palate is smooth and well coated. A nice very floral and fruity aroma.. GAWD do i LOVE SIMCOE. Opened the bottle and was ready to drink. I think this is a near perfect ipa.. evenly bitter w/ just enough sweetness to keep the tongue from drying out. i love the floral hop flavor the light caramel and a hint of fruits and citrus rind. I enjoyed. Beer2000 (1984), Kristiansand, Norway
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 21, 2008 On tap @ EBF 2008 as Single Hop Simcoe IPA. Golden body with a big off white head. Strong hoppy aroma of citrus like grapefruit and pine. Flavor has some malt, but dominated by hops and citrus. It actually does not feel sweet at all, just bitter. Long and bitter finish as well. Even being a beer for hopheads it does not feel to one-dimensional, I find it aggressive but balanced. hophead75 (1980), Boonton, New Jersey, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 28, 2009 Copper in color with a medium off white head. Aroma of alot of fresh simcoe: pine, grapefruit, hints of tropical fruit. Taste is nice and hoppy, alot of pine, grapefruit, some hints of tropical fruit with some molasses and toasted malts in the background. Smooth, full bitterness in the finish. Nice, you can’t go wrong with simcoe. emacgee (1975), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | May 14, 2009 Pours a translucent copper amber with a two finger billowy eggshell white head. The nose is fruity and citrusy, piny, mildly sweet, fresh and pungent hop nose, resinous. Liking the simcoe, glad I’m about to make a single hop Simcoe IPA. Flavor showcases a spicy bitterness, mildly sweet, citrusy, resinous/oily feel, combination of mango and grapefruit. There is an aspect to the Simcoe flavor that grows a little tiresome. Still a great IPA. iowaherkeye (1959), Los Angeles, California, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 24, 2009 Looks like this bottle was brewed @ De Proef. 11.2oz bottle, cap marked 22/10/10 (best by Oct 22, 2010 my guess). Hazy orange caramel with a big three finger off-white head, good retention. Big perfumey citrus and tangerine, some bitter earth and herbal notes (though faint). I can only pick up on a little sweet caramel. Flavor has some white pepper and quite a bit of bitterness added--very earthy bitterness, I might add. Bitterness peaked around a 6-7 in the dry finish. Light to moderate carbonation with a medium body. I thought this was pretty good--I’m always a bit wary of European brewed American IPAs.

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 22, 2006 Hazy, rusty orangish-brown in color with a creamy tan head recessing to an icy, thin shapeshifting overlay. Caramel, orange toffee, some ABV and grapefruit rind sweetly sing unto the senses, along with nectarines sprinkled with sugar, bitter tropical fruit pulp and orange crème. Flavor pulls from caramel to embody a spritsy, enzymatic hop oil. Bitterness brigades the tastebuds with orange, pine and citric toffee. Grapes come in with a summertime-like refreshing quality. Carbonation is dialed up a notch, emitting a minute palate pause, and then keeling over to mostly encapsulating bitterness. Sweetened finish is bitterly annotated by papaya chords and ruby red grapefruit. Thanks for sharing, Ughsmash!
