Clear mahogany with a medium beige head. Sweet aroma with roasted malt, caramel and hints of chocolate. Flavour was sweet with roasted malt, caramel and chocolate notes. Finished sweet.

2009-09-21, draught at Eataly, Bologna, 6-4-7-3-14=34
Dark amber to brown color; small head. Delicate caramel aroma, Medium body strength, with good caramel flavor, compared to the bottle it’s less round and has some more chocolate touch. Correct bitterness; in the end it’s possible to find some residual sugars, also the chocolate is more evident. Solid.

2009-09-18, bottle, 7-4-7-3-14=35
Dark brown color; medium creamy head. Aroma of mildly roasted cereals, and slight oxidisation; caramel. Medium body, strong caramel flavor, dry, with roasted nuts; correct bitterness. The final is more mouthfilling, and round. Not powerful but complex enough, and well brewed.

2003-10-20, bottle, 7-4-7-3-13=34
Dark amber color. Quite strong aroma: malt, unmalted grains, bran, paper, cane sugar. Round mouthfeel, with a strong presence of caramel; some malty sweetness at the end, before the bitter final.

Bottled (BB 08/2005)
Copper brown, small expresso head. Good caramelly, roasted nose - very typical German dobbelbock aroma. Roasted, licorice, cold coffee and burned caramel. Touch of alcohol in the aftertaste. Just quite thin palate otherwise one of the best (or the best) Italian sampled so far.

A Mes rate. Bottle at the Weekend of Tarts.
Thanks to Bullseye for this. A rather attractive clean amber colour with a thin off white head. Sadly it’s all down hill from there. Full on wheat and pukey malt. Lots of nuts and raw cocoa. Harsh and unbalanced.

Bottle. Chocolate in the aroma. Grainy sweet flavor with cacao powder, the stuff you make cheap chocolate milk with. Medium bodied, but alcoholic for its modest ABV. Nevertheless a decent bock.

Thank you, Beerbiker
Pours deep brown with a small, creamy, beige head. Aroma has lots of rye bread and some caramel. Great, creamy mouthfeel. Sweet, malty, almost cloying flavour, but it is saved by a fair, hoppy finish.

4/8/04: Aged for a year and still very delicious. Plenty of sweet caramel malt and good bock flavor. A very nice beer! 1/15/03: Pours a dark brown with a thin off-white head. Aroma of pure sweet malty caramel. Body continues in much the same way as the aroma, caramely sweet and has a decent hop balance. This is a very nice dopplebock, but is perhaps overly sweet, without the complexity and balance exhibited in Celebrator.
