Beautiful floral hop notes, malty and a touch of spice. The flavour is light malt, fruit and spice. Some mineral in the mouthfeel and smooth bitterness. The hops are allowed to do their thing here and they really hold up well with the lighter malt backbone. A quality pils and if not the best I’ve tried from an Aussie brewer.

Subdued aromas though floral grassy hop aromas do show through. Some sweet malt flavours initially followed by resiny hops. Quite bitter finish. Not too bad Jade (72), Australia

Aside from some significant bitter, hoppy action, this didn’t taste much like a pilsner to me. The confusion around identity was only reinforced by the reference on the bottle to "Fine Handcrafted Ale", the 5.9% strength, and the yeast sediment left in my glass. That said , I found this to be a singular, tasty and impressive drop. Had a herbal, grassy aroma, and a quite pronounced honeyed sweetness which balanced beautifully against the bitterness. Very nice indeed. jimmythechippy (73), , Australia

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 22, 2009 Bottle. Somewhat hazy dull gold. Stable two finger off-white head. Medium bead. Nose is bursting with grassy and spicy hops with some bread behind. Nuts and very focused sweet malt with floral hops. This is clearly a fresh bottle - I suspect it could be a little oversweet if consumed later. But as is, it’s very much of the style of the brewery: not terribly refined, but full of good quality and very fresh ingredients just allowed to speak for themselves. Perhaps a bit riotous for the style, but I don’t care. BeerChaser0078 (486), Melbourne, Australia
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 24, 2009 Bottle. Pours slightly hazy golden orange with a small white head that doesn’t last long. Sweet aroma has notes of honey, butterscotch, caramel, citrus, malt and a little herbal hops. Flavour is also sweet, especially for a pilsener, and is just about the same as the aroma but with the biscuity malt more upfront. Palate comes close to being dominated by the sweetness but is balanced by the hop bitterness as well as a dry finish. Unusual interpretation of the pilsener style, and while this isn’t Red Hill’s best brew, its still a nice, enjoyable beer. Davros (313), Australia
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 24, 2009 Continuously frothing inch high snow-white head. Slightly cloudy butterscotch/toffee hue.
Big weet-bix malt nose, with strong resin and fresh, green, spicy hop notes.
Appetizing hoppy bitterness with noticeable resinous sweetness. Very clean crisp malty taste reminiscent of walnuts.
Massive tang from lively carbonation.
Overall a good mix of bitter and sweet, with a nice aroma of hops and malt. Too much carbonation in my opinion, but really, a good example of the style.
