Commercial Description:
Cask: Special - JDW Festival 2008
For the 2008 JDW festival, we welcome our first guest brewer from Denmark, Mikkel Borg Bjergso, voted best brewer in Denmark and sixth-best brewer in the world by RateBeer, which also voted BrewDog as best Scottish brewer and Samuel Smith as best English brewer. Having already also brewed in Norway, Belgium and the USA, this is his first time in this country, so he has brewed this special beer for us at Jennings Brewery in Cumbria. This amber-coloured ale has a good, solid malt background, superbly balanced by a citrus hop character which is evident in both the flavour and aroma. Hops used: Bramling X, Fuggles and Cascade.

Cask at the Hope Tap (JDW), Reading. Reddish brown with a soapy looking off-white head; malty aroma with a hint of spice; chewy malt flavours with a buttery consistency; strongly bitter hops with a touch of nettle. The finish has smoke, treacle and ginger. Different and appealing.

Cask @ various JDW’s around London. Nutty malt and subtle lightly spicey citrusy hops, rounded flavour with some nice bitterness. Its funny how this is the highest rated Jennings beer. Well done to Mikkel!!

Oct, 2008 JDW, Gravesend Rich, warm and slightly spicy. Attractive enough until the hops come in. This is my second attempt and it doesn’t improve. [2.7]

2008-11-05, Cask Conditioned at J.D. Wetherspoon - Goodman’s Field, London, 7-4-7-4-15=37
Beautiful red to dark amber color; thin creamy head. It has a nice aroma of American hops and chocolate malt, maybe a hint of ashes, and earthy too; interesting. Strong caramel flavor, rounded by a clear yeasty touch and with a bold bitterness, but that becomes maybe aggressive at the end. I wonder which yeast they used… (Danish?) Good.

Dark amber color; creamy head. Mild aroma, of coffee, a bit yeasty. Being cheated by the color, the flavor has a strong roasted malt presence, nutty, dry coffee. Hidden by the coffee, there is a good quality hopping. An amber Stout. Very good.
