The taste is of fairly standard, bland malt without any real hops. Overall, a pretty mediocre beer, but definitely drinkable. Flavor is that of malt. Almost no hop prescence. Pretty weak for a Bock. Foxbush (473), Richmond, Virginia, USA

Not much special. More malt than hops. I did not taste the citrus. Good finish. Frank (1142), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 3/10 | 1/5 | 8/20 | Feb 3, 2010 1888 was an inoffensive but uneventful year if this beer is to be believed. Color is crystal clear copper brown. Head is white, of small bubbles and dissipates quickly, leaving only a few splotches of lace. The best part of this beer is the nose, which is malty, mildly chocolaty w/ some spicy cinnamon notes in the background. Flavor is kind of a let down, dry and bland w/ too much carbonation. I am not sure I would call this a bock. It is too low gravity, lacks malt presence and the hop character is all wrong. Actually, there is almost no hop character at all, which is probably a good thing since this uses the cat-pee accented cluster hop according to its description. There is no reason to say this is bad except there’s no reason to say it’s good. tnkw01 (226), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA

Didn’t really taste the citrus as in the description. Aroma was slightly roasted grain and some earthy notes. Color a medium amber color. Might drink again but would not reach for it first. jeremytoni (1214), Swedesboro, New Jersey, USA

| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Jan 19, 2010 Light amber pour. LIght aroma with just a hint of toasted malt in it. Weak flavor with a little bitty bit of toasted malt, a somewhat skanky sourness to the finish, and slight metallic flavors lingering in the after taste. Not much to the palate. Not much here at all. douglas88 (1753), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA

Pours a light amber color with a medium white head. A sweet toasted nose. A decent flavor; caramel, light sweet malts, toasted and banana esters. OK.
