| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Dec 21, 2008 On tap at Flossmoor and from a growler. Man, was I excited about this one because a. I love me some chocolate, b. I love me some pumpkin, c. I will probably never get a chance to try the original Midnight Sun version, and d. Flossmoor brews the hell out of porters. Poured black and oily with a thin mocha head. Aroma is mostly coffee and dark chocolate, but nutmeg and cinnamon show through as well. Flavor is rich and bold, lots of coffee and chocolate with subtle pumpkin pie filling in the finish. Medium-bodied. Awesome, but I wish they had amped up the spice a tad more. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 8, 2008 Tasted on tap at the Pizza Port Strong Ale Festival 12/6/2008. This beer pours a very dark black color from the tap. Small to medium sized tan foamy head. The aroma is chocolate and coffee, nutmeg and cinnamon. A medium bodied spiced ale. The malts are chocolate, roasted malts and coffee. The hops are earthy. The pumpkin flavors and there, but kind of hidden by the roasted malts and all those pumpkin pie spices. It’s a nice mix and makes for a very tasty, very smooth tasting beer. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet. hopdog (5694), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA
