| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 11, 2010 GABF 09. Pours a slightly hazed deep amber- almost brown with a thin head- fades a bit. Aroma is big bourbon, some caramelized oak- toast, big vanilla and char- wheat, thick syrupy sweet malts, honey, with a slight lemon- orange thing I get with some wheatwines. Flavor is boozy with bourbon, alcohol, vanilla, fusels, fruity esters, more strange orange-pez like candy, honey, candy syrup, earthy light spice and a bitter and slight alcoholic finish. Not bad for a Wheatwine. madmitch76 (1145), , Essex, England

Bourbon aroma. Amber coloured strong in alcohol and a little sweet on the palate with a little dryness and bitterness in a crisp and warming malt finish. bu11zeye (6134), Frisco, Texas, USA

| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 26, 2009 Intense bourbon aroma comes through like macaroons, with a touch of chocolate and coconut blended with smooth alcohol. Flavors follow suit, with an added layer of oak. Vanilla highlights come through in the finish. I seriously hope this becomes a regular/annual treat for SacBrew - the brewmaster there nailed this beer. HighWine (216), , California, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Apr 12, 2009 I first drank this beer Thanksgiving weekend 2008. It’s in limited supply at the brewery and they won’t pour growlers. I was blown away at the time and am enjoying it again today. I have already had a couple of surprisingly great beers this afternoon (check my ratings) so the Old Pappy’s doesn’t seem quite as spectacular as it did in Novembver. Really great beer nonetheless. Copper color, white head. Nose is whiskey with very, very faint floral hops. Taste isn’t sickly sweet but it’s like a mouthful of bourbon witha teaspoon of brown sugar. There’s definitely strong alcohol in the taste and on the palate. Really good. stoad (1), laguna niguel, California, USA does not count | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jan 2, 2009 Draft at the Oasis, growler at home. Cloudy unfiltered medium brown color. Thin quickly dissipating light tan head. Caramel, oak and bourbon nose. Sweet malty taste with nice mouth feel. The bourbon notes really push through on the back of the palate that carries through into the finish
Lingering finish with hints of chocolate and oak as well.
