COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle conditioned;
Bracia is the Celtic name for a beverage brewed in Iron Age Europe with reference found on a Roman inscription at Haddon Hall,Derbyshire. Little is known about this except it was high in alcohol, brewed with cereals and, most probably, honey. Thornbridge’s Bracia has been infused with a generous amount of dark and bitter Chestnut Honey. This was sourced by Head Brewer Stefano Cossi from Beekeeper Onelia Pin in the Alpine foothills of North East Italy. Aromas are of chestnut, honey, cappuccino, white chocolate, dark fruits, vibrant fresh peel. The mouthfeel is velvety and rich, with notes of coffee, chocolate, liquorice and hazelnuts with warming alcohol, cocoa and a little peat in the finish. Malts: Maris Otter, Brown, Munich, Dark Crystal, Black, Chocolate, Peated and Roasted Barley. Hops: Target, Pioneer, Hallertau Northern Brewer and Sorachi Ace. Bracia can be cellared for up to one year, maybe longer. Its flavours will evolve so why not enjoy the experience of opening a bottle every once in a while.

Pours an average light brown frothy head that mostly diminishes. Body is black. Aroma contains moderate malts (dark bread, hay, roasted and burnt malts, molasses, chocolate, coffee, nuts), moderate hops (resin, herbs, citrus fruits), light yeasts (dough, barnyard) and grape, raisin, plum, honey and licorice. Flavor is ligh acidic, then light acidic, sweet and light bitter, followed by sweet and bitter and finishing in bitter. Body is full with syrupy texture and soft carbonation. Great bear for a winter evening. Full bodied, subtle and enough complexity to make it better than average. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Thornbridge Hall Bracia has a medium, tan head, and a black appearance. Lacing is minimal. The aroma is strong- dark malt, coffee, chocolate, coal, sweet black bread, dark fruits, and some licorice. Taste is strong, too, and is of all those elements, with bitterness from the burnt malts, cream, and booze (cream sherry?). It uses honey, but we didn’t pick that up. Mouthfeel is thick and velvety, and Thornbridge Hall Bracia finishes semi-wet and warming from the high abv. RJT

Dark brown, almost black beer with fluffy pale brown head. Aroma has coffee, licorice, vanilla, toffee, light roastiness and dark fruits. Flavor has toffee, licorice and coffee with light roastiness. Palate is medium full with quite strong carbonation. Finish has mild bitterness and feel of alcohol. Aftertaste has licorice, dark fruits and dark sugary sweetness. Porter meets English Barley Wine / Strong Ale. Not that special but maybe a noisy pub on a summer day was not the correct environment for this beer.

UPDATED: JUL 2, 2015 Black opaque colour with brown, creamy and fim head. Practically without visual carbonation. Aroma: Alcohol note is in second plan, namely notes of malts, especially of chocolate and coffee, dominate. But you can also detect hops: some notes of tropical fruits, herbs... Taste: Presence of alcohol is well hidden, on the other side notes of hops (tropical notes) are evident. Hop bitterness is medium, almost high, malt sweetness medium. You can detect chocolate, tobacco, honey, pine, molases... Body is full and adhesiv, bitterness is surprisingly high, hop bitterness in finish also. Complex beer. Very good beer, for surly the best brew made by Thornbridge.
