Apr 24, 2009 Bottle. Pours clear amber with a 2 finger beige head that leaves nice lacing. The nose is roasted nuts and caramel. The taste is sweet caramel malt mostly with some roasted nuts and chocolate. Medium, semi-creamy mouthfeel. Another nice release from Sam Adams.

Apr 26, 2009 12oz. bottle served in a pilsner glass. Poured a brilliant dark amber with two fingers of off white head. Good looking beer. Nice rich malty aroma. Toasty and a little nutty. Decent malt profile with some caramel, and for some reason I’m getting almonds. Seems way too hoppy for the style, but I guess it’s American. Plenty of carbonation, nice medium body. I got a bit of alcohol warmth at the start.

Apr 24, 2009 12 oz bottle. Clear red pour atop which a thin off-white head forms and disappears. Aroma is a honey-like sweetness, caramel, and biscuit. Hints of hops. Flavor is toasty biscuit with honey and caramel, dryer than the aroma. Clean finish with a touch of alcohol and hops. Well-executed.

May 31, 2009 Pours medium brown with a sparse head. Sweet malts and raisins dominate the aroma. Slight bitterness followed by candy sugars, bananas and vanilla.

Apr 24, 2009 Dark ruby pour with a fizzy head. Aroma of malts, honey, soy, copper and butter. Flavor was raisins, roasted malts, almost meaty, with some brown sugar and maple. A decent beer.

Jul 10, 2009 Pours a dark reddish brown. No head, even with an aggressive pour. Light aroma of toasted malt and chocolate. Flavor is very nice with sweet malts and dried sweet fruits. Sweetness and complexity were more apparent as the beer warmed. Medium finish with a moderate alcohol burn. Nice beer.

Jul 7, 2009 Pours a really nice ruby brown color with a thin short-lived off white head. Aroma is malt, some dark fruit, a bit of bread and hazelnut maybe. Flavor is more of the same. A lot of different nice notes in there with kind of a funny sharp hint at the back. Nice beer and very drinkable.

Jun 3, 2009 Caramel in color... Aroma is slightly caramel and toffee... Flavor is what you would expect from the aroma, caramel.... Pretty solid beer..
