Brabant is a 8.65% abv dark unfiltered beer, fermented entirely with Brettanomyces and aged in Zinfandel barrels for nine months. 694 cases produced.

Dark Cola pour with a filmy offwhite head. Woody, bretty aroma but a little soapy. Flavor is more soap, sour funk, caramel, some light floral hops and some wood. This falls a bit flat on the finish, revealing some rubber and cheese.

Bottled 2/10/09. Pours a dark brown red with a small brown head. Aroma is brett, lemon, funk, berry and citrus. Flavor is incredibly sweet with very little sourness. Palate is cloying and dry. Had potential, probably better fresh.

Bottle thanks jay. Dark pour with some tan head. Nice bretty funky aroma wine barrel has some effect. Flavor follows lots of wine and some etoh warming leaves a little to desire.

Bottle purchased at From the Vine. Enjoyed on St. Pat’s with Stuffed Cabbage, Herb de Provence Potatoes and my lovely bride. Chestnut color pour with golden hints at the edge, little head. Oak/wood, soy, balsamic vinegar, and a vinous sour punch greet your nose. The flavor is a touch sour but there is more wood than anything. A bit of a sharp fruit presence but again, that is muted by the wood. The balsamic continues here as well but not strong. The next most predominant thing is the blanket like flavors left by the Brett (I think). It’s just a bit musty too. Body is a bit wet but finishing towards the dryer end of wet….You know what I mean. Mouth feel starts like it will be thin but there is substance there as the taste continues. Interesting. Can’t wait for Black Tot.

Bottled. Poured deep brown with a spotty cap of tan head. The aroma picked up sour vinous and oaky notes paired with dry, earthy Brett and some vinegar.. the underlying malts were seemingly irrelevant because this was so barrel-forward.. drew me in, though. The flavor found vinous notes, fruity Brett, and tart oak upfront with not a whole lot of substance behind.. just some prickly carbonation, more wine, and Brett back there.. not satisfying. Less sour on the palate than the nose indicated.. bone dry with tart barrel and wine sticking around on the finish.. I’d love to see similar barrels & bugs used on a more hearty underlying beer.

Thanks Jason. The beer pours to a really dark brown body with an off-white head. The aroma is big and bold with a vibrant grape juice and peppery Zinfandel and something that seems like raspberries. The flavor is strong peppery Zinfandel up front with very little beer-like flavor. Medium bodied but a bit peppery in the alcohol

deep mahogany pout w/ a thick light tan head w/ thick sticky lacing. Slightly sour aroma I thought hey is this infected then saw the bret in the description, definite wood and light wine like qualities come through in the aroma I think this will be tart: sour grapes & oak dominate lots of the barrel come through. Avg pal quite tart. Flavor has some good sour and lots of barreling definite zin and oak, after that it’s pretty lacking very dry then some more dry then ... ? Not that good.

Pours dark brown with thick tan head on the pour that goes thin real quick. Aroma has the expected funk from the Brett. Taste has sour cherries and berries from the oak. Lively carbonation with dry finish. Good.

I enjoyed this beer better than Black Tot which is #2 in the Series. The pour is dark brown to black and the head is highly effervescent that dissapates quickly. The aroma is definitely Brett, Belgian yeast. The flavors are wonderful. Yeast, fruit, oak and tartness thoughout and even some dry red wine in the finish. This is an extremely complex and unique beer with an incredible layers of flavors. Very different, very special and very pungent!
