Commercial Description:
This tasty copper ale was originally called White Cap brewed in honor of our 15th Anniversary. Everyone liked the beer so much; we decided to release it year-round. To avoid any perceived consumer confusion, we changed the name to Rip Curl to celebrate the ripping winds and whitecaps of the Columbia River Gorge," It's a thirst quenching easy drinking copper ale that has smooth wave of maltiness that crests to a clean fast finish. Brewed with a blend of specialty Caramel and Pale malt and balanced with East Kent Golding, Challenger & Fuggle hops. Rip Curl will also be available on draught in 1/2 & 1/4 bbls.

Aroma is dominated by a sweet English maltiness (almost reminiscent of a brown ale) with a slight hop note. The appearance is fairly unappealing - coppery amber in color, very clear, with a moderate, slowly dissapating head with a bit of lacing. The flavor is lackluster but not bad - slightly sweet and malty up front with a smooth bittery finish. Full bodied and definitely not thin but the mouthfeel is average for me. A decent "everyday" beer but nothing special.

Light amber in color. Head is small and disappears fast. Taste is more hoppy and not very complex. Light pale ale that is not bad but not great.

12oz bottle. Pours a medium gold color with a good sized off white head.Malty aroma with some earthy hops. Finishes clean and dry. A little hard to pin down, fairly average for an ale. Refreshing but nothing special, kind of an old bottle so its my fault.

Not much to this one, its flavor are solid and uncomplicatedly simple, and it is quite drinkable, just not very exciting. Caramel flavors backed up by a bit of hop bitterness in the finish. Very light with a fading aftertaste.

Bottle. Amber in color with thin white head. Reasonable taste with hop overtones. An attempt at more sessiony than the pale that falls flat.

Pretty looking brown color with a medium beige head. Aroma has some solid caramel maltiness and medium strength fuggles and assorted English hops. Flavor is unexciting but solid - tasty malts of caramel and bread with some light hop bitterness. Very smooth with just enough tingle on the tongue. Not bad at all.

I really love this beer, it’s great from the tap and good from the bottle. Beautiful brown, smooth and very well balanced in regards to taste. Nice head from the bottle.
