thegreenrooster (1811), St.louis, Missouri, USA Dec 10, 2004 Pour is brown with a small head. Aroma is a bit malty. Flavor is malty but with a lasting hop presence. More hoppy then a typical marzen but its ok for those looking for something different.
BrewingFan (47), Texas, USA Nov 10, 2009 Nice deep golden copper with a steady stream of bubbles. The flavor is rich and smooth, lots of malt with enough bitterness to keep it from getting carried away. Caramel and biscuits, backed by sweetness and a touch of alcohol. Warming, but not to much. Palate hits it on the mark, perfect for this beer. The finish is crisp and clean. The only fault in this beer is that the aroma doesn’t keep up with the rest of the beer. One of my favorites! DarkSong (103), Dacula, Georgia, USA Nov 9, 2009 12 oz bottle. Pours a amber color with a large and lasting off white head. It has a very pleasant creamy taste, tastes of bread and has a nice roasted taste. This strikes me as a really good beer and I look forward to drinking it again. Yves (1000), Beerse, Belgium Nov 7, 2009 Amber coloured beer with small off-white head and medium carbonation. Malty hoppy aroma. Full bit sparkling palate; Finish is bitter hoppy, rather soft finish bit creamy. GMCC2181 (848), Bear, Delaware, USA Nov 5, 2009 Draft, my other choices were BMC so this was a no brainer. Nice little head, red in color, not much aroma maybe some bready maltiness. Taste is kind of nice. Maltiness, bread with some caramel. Light in texture easy to drink. Oveall not bad at all. savnac (394), Palmer, Alaska, USA Nov 3, 2009 On tap. Clear amber with a foamy off white head. Bready malt aroma with light German hop scents. Taste about the same with sweet bread like malt flavors and a good bitterness to balance it out. Medium body with average carbonation and a smooth finish. Nice Marzen. arkurzynski (93), West Bend, Wisconsin, USA Nov 1, 2009 Pours dark amber with creamy head. Pleasant malty aroma.Clean, malty finish. Light hopping. A little low on mouthfeel, but a very good Oktoberfest. bsp77 (199), Minnesota, USA Oct 30, 2009 Poured from bottle into Summit Pint glass.
Clear amber-orange with thick foamy head that really lasts.
Smells very dry, with notes of toast and spicy noble hops. Really don’t detect very much here.
Light flavored Marzen overall. Slightly sweet caramel and toast. Minor spicy noble hop finish. Don’t really notice much biscuit, as expected for the style. While it sounds like I am complaining, I really do like this beer and its overall balance.
Moderate carbonation, medium but thin body, fairly smooth and slightly dry finish.
This may be the easiest drinking Marzen out there, but that doesn’t necessarily make it the best, as it is just slightly too light on flavor. Great nonetheless.
Niko100 (82), New York, USA Oct 29, 2009 Updated: Nov 2, 2009Nice amber/orange color; Medium body; Aroma of hops and spice; Flavor of sweet hops, malt, citrus and some caramel; A little on the light side, but a good seasonal brew.
