3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Oakes (9988) - Gibsons, British Columbia, CANADA - NOV 27, 2004
Orange-tinged light brown colour. Slightly browned head. Oh my god - hops! I remember those! Piney with a hint of pommelo, wood and tobacco. If this were cigar I’d be loving this. Woody tasting palate , slight citrus and bitterness. Oooo. Underneath is chewy caramel. Despite shocking my palate with flavours unknown in months, I have to be realistic. It’s not that good.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Sully (1378) - Potts Point, New South Wales, AUSTRALIA - FEB 9, 2004
Well, given the lack of grunt provided by the others I decided to splurge and pay 145baht for the biggun. This is still only less than $5 Aussie so if good it will be worth it. well it is an OK beer. There are disctinct malty notes and good mouthfeel which is backed up by a good coppery colour and malty/hop aroma. At least there is evidence that this was brewed with an ale yeast as some of the necessary characters come through. Perhaps the palate for this beer is not one of a typical ratebeerian. Most of the visitors don't seem to care what they order from my brief observation. They are here for a bite to eat and a drink before they board a flight to be offered a bite to eat and a drink an hour later. Discerning.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 omhper (15592) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - DEC 22, 2003
Sampled draught at the brewpub (Location at airport, terminal 2).
The address given here directs you to a dubious night club called Orbit. To enter Orbit you either have to pay for a very expensive bottle of whiskey, or pay a n extremely steep entry fee. Also there is no mention anywhere by the entrance of a brewery inside. As it is much cheaper, even for one person, to grab a taxi and go to the airport I'd recommend the airport location. Funnily this is still called Taurus. This beer is their showpiece: an orange-brown, cloudy ale with small creamy head. It is sweet and toffeeish with traces of almondsa nd butterscotch. There are some citrusy hops up front, It is medium bodied with a clean, simple malt profile and finishes with some pleasant hoppy bitterness. Much like a decent standard amber ale on a US brewpub chain.
3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 MartinT (6142) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - JUN 8, 2003
A hot caramel whisky slowly lets through citrusy hops...Candy sugar and corny syrup converge as spicy alcohol and interest diverge...The joy rocket somewhat misfires...

Light orange colour. Butter malt aroma with a British yeast flavour. This is definitely the bst beer that I had in Thailand (which isn't saying much).
