Draft at Hop, Milan. Black with red blinks. Disappearing head. Very strong aroma of licorice, cappuccino and cocoa. Somewhat earthy. Roastiness. Balanced indeed as what concern hop, roastiness and body. Flavours are very strong, with a beautiful licorice dry ending, but it was so carbonated that i’ve found very hard to empty my mug. 8/4/8/2/13 ****Re-Rate**** H pump at the brew pub. Served almost warm, with a very silky and smooth palate, right carbonation and really strong and balanced flavours.

Black with red reflections, great head. Addictive taste, never boring. Ballanced hops and roast, with a sweet caress. Probably one of the best companions in long winter nights.

Served from a keg with a handpump... Near black but with red highlights; very un-casklike straight head. Drop , concentrated liquorice, treatens to be sweet. Tobacco-flavoured, ashes. Without the sparkler bit more fruity, blackberry flavours. Coffee-like. Very heavy body, but I think it is misleading. Slick & just sourish retronasal. Drink it WITHOUT the sparkler!

Dark colour, creamy. Coffee flavour. Brewed near Switzerland, but similar to some English porters. Good.

Deep brown colour, creamy dark head. Traces of liquorice in the aroma. Coffe and malty flavour with a strong liquorice aftertaste. Good, but a little boring in the end.

Draught at the brewpub, 2005-12-26, 7-5-8-4-15=39
Dark brown color; thick creamy head. Aroma of cappuccino. Served not cold (!) it has a very good malty taste, round, some sweetness, a strong and dry roasted malt character, nutty. Strong final.

Draught at the brewpub, 2002-11-10, 7-5-7-4-15=38
Dark brown color, creamy head. Roasted malt aroma. Smooth, good coffee taste; medium body strength, good hop balance and strong palate.
