Ok, I don’t know if I should really be rating this beer, because I bought it at a close-out sail at a liquor store, when this beer was probably two years old or so... no date on the six-pack... just dust on the bottles. Anyway beige head, brownish red colour. Nutty aroma. Little malty. Fairly watery. Caramel notes. Pretty crappy, but that might just be the old age of the beer, rather than anything inherent to the beer as it once was.

Had this beer on 12/19/1997. There is nothing special about it, but it is a good smooth drinking beer and I would buy it again.

The aroma has coffee, toasted malt, and chocolate. The appearance is dark brown with a two finger head. The flavor is very toasty with lots of coffee and sugar. There is a bitter astringent taste to it as well but very little nuttiness. The palate is thin. This is more of a second rate porter than a brown ale.

Pours a three finger, light tan head that fades to a shallow layer leaving some lace. Mahogany color. Light-medium carbonation and medium bodied. Bitter chocolate nose. Flavor is sweet bitter chocolate, with a roasted coffee finish. Unusual brown but good. $1.49 for a 12oz bottle from John’s Grocery Iowa City, IA.

Dark brown color,small tan head that had a decent hang time then faded to leave nothing behind but a slight lace.The aroma was malty and roasty with a decent chocolate side.The flavor was fairly decent,malty and chocolatey with a mild sweetness coming on and a bit of a mild bitter sweet ending.Very nice brew that is easy to drink almost anytime.well worth trying again,and again.

12oz bottle from Party Source - Pours dark brown with a short creamy tan head that stays pretty well and laces the glass. Aromas of chocolate, nuts, caramel. Flavor is malty with chocolate, caramel, nuts, and a touch of roasted malt. Slight bitterness on the finish. Full bodied for a brown and dare I say more porter-like than any brown I’ve tasted before. I liked it pretty well.

Perhaps the most chocolatey brown ale that I’ve had to date. It pours a deep, opaque brown with red highlights and sports a slender tan head. The aroma is quite malty, full of chocolate, a bit of caramel, and a light nutty bitterness. Very thick and smooth to drink, the chocolate becomes more pronounced in the flavor, accompanied by lightly roasted malts, caramel, and an even lighter nuttiness. Good stuff.

(bottle - 12 oz) Deep ruby red pour with a very thin tan head. Aroma is full of roasted and toasted malts, chocolate and some caramel. Taste is very roasty and sweet at the beginning with a nice and rich roasted malt middle that gives way to a watery and slightly metallic finish with an aftertaste of nuts, malt, and caramel. Very nice brown ale.
